A fine set of 33mm smoothbores for old school XS1100 bikes. These are currently set up for KZ, CB or GS bikes but they do come with the slightly narrower mounting rails for ZX and XS machines. Everything works smooth, no surprises. No main jets.

Here's where my experience is limited.

What is the benefit of these over the stock Mikunis?

1. These are a direct connect from the throttle cable to the slides. There is no vacuum needed.
2. You can run pod filters since there is no need for the air box resonance.
3. Smoothbores offer no resistance to incoming air unlike stock CV carbs.
4. These are racing carbs and throttle response will be much different than your stock CVs. I've rode with these on the street, but it takes some getting used to.

Your stock CVs will provide a tamer low end response. These smoothbores are made for all out top end speed - that's where you'll see the biggest difference.

You can't just whack the throttle open like you can with CV carbs, engine will bog. That takes the most getting used to...they're kind of like having mechanical secondaries on a 4 barrel carb, rather than vacuum, you have to use your feel for what the engine needs. Not really that hard to get used to, I've had several bikes with them. Only downside I see to these is that I don't see any accelerator pump as on some Mikuni smoothbores, which would tend to make them even more sensitive to too much throttle.

The Wiz has a set on his 80 g they are pretty slick but you should run them with pods and it took him a while to dial them in
