  • Speedo needed

Need a round 140 or 160 MPH speedo. Shell is unimportant as mine is in good shape. Have many parts including 160 square speedo. Also have plating (including gold) and powder coating ability. Anyone interested in trade? Almost forgot--would like to find a bar type fork brace.

I was just at my local salvage today and they have a load of Yamaha speedo's. They guy told my that they run around 35 to 40 dollars for the speedo and the same for the tach. PM me if you would like me to pick one up for you at that price. Several of the round 160 and round 140.

I'll try to make it by there tomorrow and get a good one. Are you wanting the whole cluster or just the speedo part? I'll pick one out and get some pics to you and make sure you like it at the price point. or a possible trade for your square one.

Okay just went by the salvage and this is what I could find in the short amount of time I was there.

The round 160 speedo has been sold off of the parts bike since I was there Monday.

they have several of the 140 xs750 speedos there but by far the one in the best shape was the 120 speedo it looked great. it was off of a xs400.

They have a ton of speedos but they are on the top shelf piled 6 high and very hard to sort thorough. They also have 1 complete square 160 cluster and one solo 160 square speedo there as well. The guy quoted me 35 to 40 dollars for a solo speedo. Let me know if any of these would fit the build.

              Hey now

I'm glad to see this thread.

I have an 81-SH and it is so annoying that the needle is all the way wound in highway.
And my brothers kids (5,6 & 8) were kind of disappointed this summer that this bike can only do 80! No point in trying to explain the conversions and regulations at that age.

Would you be willing to take another "order" at the same time for a speedo?
Being that signs here are of the km/h version the lowest one of those would seem most fitting for me.

Do they all have the same gearing ratios between the Yamaha models?

I have no idea what gearing ratios these have. I was going to go in there with my speedo cable and cordless drill and see if they all read the same thing at 1800 RPM. my standard gauge I have now reads around 30 MPH with my drill so I figure if they are geared the same they would read the same. The only bad thing with these clusters are that the tachs are all mechanical not electronic like the xs1100.

P.S. did you notice the cluster in the middle pic has a brake lining warning lamp!!!! how cool is that! I wonder what bike it came off of.

                  MeatTooth,
Here's pics of the square speedo I have.

There is a couple of dings on the bottom and the seals need to be replaced.
I have not run it. Got it from Ebay then decided the square ones did not look right on my bike.

If you still want a swap just pick the best looking 140 or 160 and PM me.

If there is anything else you need just hollar.

                  Thanks

I have a perfectly operational tach so the speedo is what I'm looking for.
