  • Wanted Kerker Megaphone

I currently have a Kerker 4 in to 1 system on my 79 special. Would like to run a straight megaphone at times and the baffle and packing are pretty well seized into the tail pipe. Wondering if anyone has a megaphone in black, they would like to part with or any suggestions for a substitute.

hey i had a similar problem with my kerker....i took the muffler off the bike sprayed wd 40 around the insert on the back, then i removed the little screw on the end of the tail pipe and took a long 2x2 and a rubber mallet and inserted the 2x2 into the opposite end and tapped it about 3 good timems and the baffle and end cap came off with no problem....

I soaked mine too and took the megaphone part off the bike and continued tapping on the inner pipe until the back disk came loose and then repacked it with stainless steel mesh/packing. WOW, what a difference, it's got a nice sound now, not ear piercing.

        03Mach1,

Please tell me more about this stainless steel mesh you speak of. Where did you get the SS mesh packing?

Search Ebay for Stainless Muffler Packing. I can't remember exactly the size, but the piece I got was a bit short on the width, so I just packed regular fiberglass in around the ends.

          ie.

          Good luck.
