I have a pristeen set of petocks for a 79 Special. I bought these by mistake as I was looking for Standard petcocks. Anyone interested, let me know. I wanted to post them here before I put them on ebay. $30.00 plus shipping.
Foreda,
If these will work on an 80, built in 07-79, XS1100 special I'll take them.
I have paypal as a way to pay you. But since I'm new to this forum I'm not sure how to go about giving you my email address. If you'll email me at
lrcargill AT comcast.net I'll set up payment and get this done.
I just took the tank off and saw that these won't work. Mine needs the left one with the vacuum fuel control.
Larry - These petcocks are from a Special. If your petcocks don't look like these, you are not dealing with a special. The vacuum control comes from the "Octy" on Specials. Only the Standards had a vacuum connection on the petcocks.

I just picked up a rebuild kit for my 79xs1100sf (as in xs11Special). as it turns out, my local bike shop knows precisely d*** about Yamahas, not to mention 33 year old classics. so after i went over how its a 79, 1100, special- not a midnight special (as the clerk informed me that specials werent made until 1980) i ordered the part. btw, it cost 45$ i picked them up today and brought the petcock in to work. after tearing it down, and scraping the rotted gasket, i realized that the ones i got from the shop are way to big. to say the least, i was thoroughly aggravated. anyway, this has been a troublesome restoration project. all that is left is to evaporust and rechrome the chrome pieces, finish polishing the aluminum block, and of course, the petcock. willing to pay for overnight shipping. this part is whats keeping me on 4 wheels instead of 2. please contact me via phone/text at 412-606-6252.

In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.
