Haynes manual on e-bay

Why didn't you just offer the manual to the XS11 Forum riders and mechanics for a realistic price? People who post on eBay, then patronize the enthusiasts here for a bid are just out for the bucks :-(. Sorry, but that is how I feel and I wouldn't do it myself; I'd rather make a friend than squeeze the last penny, (don't forget eBay's extortionistic cut to support big-wig Ferrari driving corporate greed), and I see it as promoting a commercial interest IMHO...
WarrenSure it's gonna make some noise, there's GAS exploding in there!

I did not post this because I am selling the F#@&!n manual. Some people here consider it to be a good source for information...
And some want one of their own for their library.
Is there anything in that post that says I was selling the book?
It's a free market society pal. If you want to bitch at the seller, go to e-bay and bitch. If you don't like what he wants for the book, don't pay it. For your information, I payed more for my copy than the buy it now on that sale.
I've never done a damn thing here to stick any member and never will.

Wowww....put the axe down...sloooowwwllly please, yeah the one you seem to need to grind about Evilbay. Ebay has its place, and it only exist because many find it very useful. I have found a couple great deals there myself.
As to Rodger/Latexeses, I will back up that he is a fine fellow and done nothing but help and support the members of this site in the 7 or 8 months I have been here. So take a breath or ten and let a few minutes go by before you lash out.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

Hello latexeses,
Thanks for the message! I am very glad you are not the owner of the e&@y posting. Your message smacked of many postings I see for sellers promoting (SPAMMING) sites with their own commercial interests, and a little more info would have set your message apart, as my message should have included a disclaimer too. My sincere appologies, and you can roost me at the next rally; I deserve it...
Obviously latexeses is a member in good standing here (thanks for the commendation DGXSER). My response to the post was also a general statement to any and all e&@y sellers who spam, and reflect my feelings based on too many unfortunate experiences. Trust me, my feelings are much stronger than what my message conveyed.
I also own and operate my own web site (which I would not promote here), and get spammers driving traffic to e&@y from there far too often. Nasty vindictive messages and even a physical threat from posters whose ads have been deleted have been received.
It seems the more dedicated the enthusiast, the more passionate the response. I think this entire thread demonstrates this fact. I always do what ever I can to help other bikers, and volunteer services and make donations wherever and whenever I can. If you or any other forum member are ever in West Wisconsin, please give me a call, and I'll put on a pot of coffee out in the shop (I only go in the house to sleep and eat!). My number is 715-962-2188; please call early rather than late - thanks.
With humble regret to latexes,
Warren
P.S., Have a great 4th; I am very thankful that the in the USA we can say what we think and feel - for that I am VERY grateful.Sure it's gonna make some noise, there's GAS exploding in there!

spam?
Warren, I don't get it. It's alright for you and others to post your stuff for sale here but not ok for an ebay seller (like me)? I'm not here for a fight but I just don't get it.
I'm self employed and this is a side business for me that sort of happened by accident. I have worked hard to collect good and rare XS1100 parts for years now and had to start selling them off last year to help keep my family afloat. I simply can't afford to not try to maximize the amount I am getting back out of my collection.
I have sent parts to XS11 members for free, donated many times to XS11.com with the proceeds of my sales, accepted offers and sold parts to members for less than I would have gotten selling the same parts on ebay and have hundreds of happy customers all over the world, including many members here. I keep all of my posts in one thread and asked for opinions/permission from the moderators and members here before I posted any auction links.
I can understand that you may not like ebay and may have some problems with some other folks that you have come across but I am not one of them.
I am feeling like your post was directed squarely at me and it kind of struck a nerve. You don't know me or my situation, what I do, how hard I work, how I volunteer to help folks or how passionate I am about motorcycles.
I don't force anyone to do business with me or rip anyone off. Selling on ebay takes a lot of time and effort to do it right. I have worked hard to build up a 100% positive feedback rating with over 700 transactions and I will try to protect my reputation if I feel it is being questioned.
FYI, I have bought a couple of things from members here and resold them on ebay. After thinking about it I realized that I shouldn't have. I won't buy anything from a member here anymore unless it is for my own XS11. promise
Like I said, I don't want to fight and I'm not mad at you. It seems like there is a lot of bashing on this board lately, both personal and political and I just don't understand it.
If it is the general consensus here that my posts are unwanted I will stop.
BTW, I am still interested in the Samsonite bags.
thanks,

Hey Andy,
I fully appreciate your position, and for the most part agree with you completely! I also have been out of a job for several (3+) years, and have largely given up on returning to my vocation - I have enough rejection letters to wallpaper a room. Went from a good income, nice house, new car, new bikes, and all that goes with a well paying career, to now a VERY humble abode and a 15 year old pick-up; when a good income stops, it is amazing how quickly you go under :-( I now own a struggling M/C & Parts sales website, as well as still occasionally use E&@y too when absolutely necessary, but my life is SOOO much more rewarding now, especially when compared to being a whore to corporate greed.
When I first started my own site, it was somewhat an act of desperation; at that time E&@y was just starting to get pissy and postage rates were escalating, and my humble profit almost went away when the invoice was paid - seriously, anything that sold less that $20 (most of my auctions) was a waste. Being a Computer Programmer, I put up my site, and tried posting links for my items on Forums & Groups where E&@y links were plentiful; well, I was banned and badmouthed by more than a few webmasters, even though my site was then, and still is, completely FREE to anyone that wanted to buy or sell ~ according to the majority though, it was still Commercial.
I read the T&Cs here, and it says: "The Buy, Sell, Trade forum is for non-commercial ads only. Anyone caught posting commercial ads here will be banned from using this feature and will have their ads deleted without notice." If someone posts links of parts or bikes that are on CL or E&@y that are not their own, I can understand. But if it is for personal (or business, as many eBay sellers are) profit, then to me it is Commercial. All the items I now or have ever offered on XS11.com are for members eyes only; I don't even put them on my own site. Thank you for taking the same approach; integrity is becoming very rare, and I applaud your ethics.
Sadly, honorable intentions and fair dealings are quickly disappearing within the virtual communities, and many of the good dealers on Commercial sites are going back to swap meets and networking through the grapevine, or throwing in the towel altogether. I have a box full of crap XS11 parts bought off E&@y; mis-represented, poorly packed, and even broken. It is not worth the endless battles to throw away $$$ due to the shift away from personal pride of service to the cut and run mentality, so I largely will not buy there anymore unless I know the seller, or talk to them first.
I personally have become more verbal of late and feel that a certain amount of dissention (or 'bashing' by another word) is a good thing if it can lead to open communication and expression of constructive opinion. Some of my best friend disagree with most everything I say, but they make me think in a way that normally I would not have; I just got an earful about this particular thread (from a non-biker), and thank him for giving me a different perspective. Speaking of which, I need to contact TC and find out where to make a donation from my recent sale; that came up talking to my friend, and agreed - my bad...
Your reply hits close to home, and I want to thank you again. I have learned that life is not so much about the almighty dollar and conspicuous consumption, but more the rewards of taking the time to do the right thing and appreciating similar actions of others. It would be a much better world if more people would make life a succession of aspiring to common goals for the good of all, rather than than a competition solely defined by being the top of the pecking order.
Best regards,

Hi Warren,
Thanks for taking the time to write such a thoughtful reply, I really appreciate it.
Seems like life is pretty much the same for all of us.
Maybe we can continue this conversation some other place and some other time.
I would like to see your web site tho, could you p.m me with the address?
thanks again.
