Yeah, the whining was definitely my speedometer cluster. Finally got the bike running great, went out yesterday and the needle was acting funny and jerking around a lot after a bit. When I stopped at an intersection it didn't return to zero, and when I took off again it shot up super-fast and snapped off. Oddly enough the whining noise stopped after that. Given the amount of miles that were registered on that speedo unit, it doesn't surprise me.
It was one of the 160 mph speedo units, but I'm really not picky if I don't have a replacement one that goes up that high. I do need a round one though. Anyone know where I can locate one?
