    horn, and information

My XJ1100 1982, do you take pay pal? If so the horn money is on its way today. Hey I do have another question. Are the starters on these things just voltage hogs? I got the new batt. and starts ok when warm (not fast turn over just barely). Cold it is the Starting fluid and a bump start usually. I guess I should ask if you have the charging coils also.

I do have the generator . You may need to run some tests to see if you are charging. I have a sprare ac generator asy. for my bike, always a good idea to keep a few extra parts. I have an ac generator assy for an xs 1100 in good shape.
It would include the stator, field coil,
      and rotor.
I would take 20.00 for the ac generator and 15.00 for shipping, The thing is fairly heavy.
The problem could be your regulator, battery or starter.
I also have both regulator and starter from same bike

Get back with me and we'll figure out what you want that I have.
you ca email me at dbwillis1@yahoo.com and I will send you my phone number.
      Best wishes, Dustin

Keep in mind the XJ and XS use different generators. The XJ is a brush type which puts out more wattage, but also uses an elongated cover on the bike's right side. The XS is a brushless design. White it is possible to swap the two, the XJ requires the extra power for the LCD display and features like the front and real MC fluid level monitoring. I would not recommend replacing the XJ unit with an XS unit except on a temporary basis.

        Toolmaker:

If your battery and wiring are good, the XJ should spin over nicely, hot or cold. I would check the battery-to frame cable junction for the ground wire and make sure is is nice and clean. If either cable shows signs of corrosion within the wires, replace both. The starters are not all that bad for current draw, and the XJ uses the same starter as the XS. Swapping them is a major PITA, as you have to pretty much disassemble the engine to do it.

I've got one local salvage yard to check on and then I'll let you know. What model are you parting out? I'm looking for a 1100 midnight special rotor if possible.
                    Thanks!!

Do you mean 1980 or 1981 midnight special? I'll give you thirty dollars for it if it has the gold center and is not cracked and in good condition.

I sure wish I could help at this time but I sold the last side cover I had I hope to get more xs parts in soon.
I may have a side cover at a later time.

                            FYI

There was no Midnight Special in 1979. I wasn't introduced until 1980.
