Parting out my 78E

Sadly, after reviewing my lifestyle, I've come to the conclusion that I need to get rid of some time-consuming projects. Vintage bikes and snowmobiles are tops on the list. I'm going to part out my 78E with 26,000 km on it. If you're looking for parts let me know. Most of it will go up on eBay.

Off topic....what snowmobiles are you going to part with? have smowmobiled since 1967 or 1968, have a fondness for the old iron.

On-topic, I'm still looking for transmisssion parts, 1st - 4th gears and shift forks, if you have any transmission parts.

master cylinder

i was wondering if you have the front master cylinder still. if so what kind of condition and how much would you want?

Master cylinder is in very good shape. Bike was safetied last year. Brakes completely redone, excellent feel, great stopping power. I was riding it this morning.

Have no idea what to ask for a lot of this stuff. Will do some checking. Been looking at eBay to get an idea.

Man, it's easy selling spare parts but I'm going to be pretty choked when I pull the first piece that makes it unrideable

All for a good cause though.

Anyway, I'm back at the office tomorrow and back to the crazy schedule so I'm going to have to ask you to be patient. I won't have a lot of time to be in here, or in the garage pulling parts.

Why would you part it out. im sorry but i think you would be better off selling it complete.

i just looked at your bike in the ottawa get together post. is looks very nice.

but if you do part it out i wouldn't mind having dibs on the front master cylinder

I've struggled with that myself believe me.

I'm parting it out because I know people that need parts and it feels good to help out. It's a hassle but I know how excited I was to find good parts for mine. I was always a little too aggressive in my eBay bidding so I'll be selling most stuff for less than I paid for it haha. Heck, I originally offered the bike with 15,000 miles + spare carbs + original exhaust to local guys for $1000. No takers, everyone has their hands full already with projects. These bikes take time and as we get older we seem to have less and less time.

On that note, I'm tired of the petty crap I've been dealing with in this forum the last few days so I'm going to move on. It's not all that much fun anymore so why do it?

I'll stick to selling either on eBay and directly to the local riders I know. Look for my parts there.

Do you still have the center stand and kick stand? I need those along with the springs, etc. as I am saving up for new rear shocks so I can lower the bike to better fit me. I am a tad short.

I want to have a set of original sizes so if I sell the bike, the next person can raise it if they need. Plus I like having stock parts for it and on it!

Dave, if you lower the bike by very much, you will need to remove the centrestand. When I lowered SWMBO's 'H, I found the centrestand dragged going around any corner, even at "granny" speed. I took it off, and now just put it back on for servicing.
