    1979 Special project bike

    Hi,
Last week, 50 yards from home, something broke in the bottom end - a shrill whining sound for a few seconds, a snap, and then the nasty sound of a loose bolt or something worse rattling around. The transmission still worked for the last stretch and moving it once since (when oil is cold, hardly rattles at all).

Slipped discs mean no more engine work for me so hoping someone wants a project bike.

    Good news:
    - engine starts immediately and idles smoothly
    - top end has good compression with less than 2000 miles on it
    - carbs clean and synced, with newer top-quality fuel lines
    - battery only 1 year old
    - tires have lots of life (3 years old and stored under cover)
    - newer brake pads (in last 1000 miles)
    - never wrecked - rides smooth and true
    - all electrics work: charging system, signals, lights, tach, speedo
    - common issues fixed (spark advance wires replaced, 2nd-gear slip fixed)
    - two helmets - one open-face, one closed-face
    - tank chemically de-rusted
    - clean New Mexico title
Save this beast from the boneyard!
    $500

    middle drive unit/final/universal

good morning, If it still starts I would suspect your middle drive unit or something else in the drive line (external and separate from engine) failed. Easy fix, send me a pm if you need any of those parts have lots... thanx andreas
