  • '81 Special project bike

Quite a few years back, I picked up an SH in decent condition, drove it home, and proceeded to strip it down to do a full custom remake.

I sent the stripped frame to a bodyshop to have a few rust holes on the bottom of the downtubes re-welded, then had the frame done in satin black epoxy.

I tore the engine down and put in a "little big bore" Wiseco kit. Engine is still on an engine stand, never been fired.

I bought braided stainless brake lines, all new pads, new m/c seals.

Carbs were stripped down, cleaned from inside out, painted satin black.

Most of the chrome bits (i.e. not including fork tubes) were sent to plating shop, electrically stripped, then redone in satin black powdercoat.

Just about everything else that was unbolted was sandblasted, glassbeaded, and sent in for satin black powdercoat.

Seat is in excellent shape; tires excellent; sidecovers and tank undamaged and ready for paint.

This is the last of my XS11 fleet, and I would love to see it go to someone with the time and passion to put it back together. Located in Revelstoke, BC, and the snow has melted enough now that I can get to the shed where all the rubbermaid tubs full of parts are.

Anybody interested in coming to Revelstoke with a pick-up truck or van and taking home a 1:1 full scale model of an XS11 Special?

With your already known talent Ken, that WILL be one sharp dependable XS11! Good to see your still around here occasionally and still have the XS11 interest going!

I would like to see something like CAD$2000, but I am open to looking at PM offers. Realistically, it is probably worth more parted out, but I'm not looking for a summer job running parcels to the post office!

Hey, I think I have a buyer! Laura is out of the country just now, but will send me a cashier's cheque for my asking price, plus an additional $2500 for shipping. I just cash the cheque, give the bike and $2500 shipping fee in cash to her shipper when he comes for the bike. LOL!

On a connected note, I'm getting more flexible on price for this package as summer comes on, i.e. "motivated"...

                Scam

HI Ken,,,good luck with the sale, but the out of country buyer and cashiers check, shipping SCAM has been going on for awhile here in the USA. BE CAREFUL,,,,,the c. checks have been known to be postdated and not valid, and usually found out after the goods are long gone,,,,so be careful, good luck,,,,Mike in San Diego

My most recent note back to "Laura" pretty much summed up what I thought of her still trying to use a scam that has been around about as long as the internet itself. However, I kept the door open a crack, suggesting she send the cashier's cheque to her shipper so he could cash it, keep his fee, and give me cash in hand. I'm guessing that will be the end of "Laura's" notes...

Wouldn't it be fun to have the police waiting when the shipper comes, so the police could at least get his identity?
