    Ah, you read the fine print.

    btw: that QLink Legacy really is fun to ride. Pretty zippy. A great town & country bike.
    It just doesn't have a lot of power for going uphill or inclines. Except for that it is more than acceptable and fun to ride.

    Now with three 78E's I'll have to make a serious maintenance plan.

      UPDATE:

      We like updates to close the loop on status

      Decided to splurge on the way north to get my third 78E. Splurge meant spending $13 to take the scenic Chesapeake Bay bridge-tunnel-bridge-tunnel- bridge. So that took me through Lew-land (Apex), Ben-ville (Wendell), TC-city (Portsmouth) and through Delaware . Very scenic fall colors in DE + some time at Bethany Beach

      Of course a slight waft of O' De Gas in the oil. So will change oil & filter and fix the petcocks plus cut that tab on the petcocks so it is Up to Off. That feature works great for me on the other xs11.

      Bike is overall very nice. Plus got a Maier fairing and a National fairing plus the manual with the deal. Bike was never tampered with and is in ride-able shape. It does have the usual 40 year old problems so I need to make upgrades to brake lines and that sort of thing. As I recall, PO said original saddle was sold for some crazy number like $500 (guy really wanted it bad) so seat is not original.

      PO rode the bike but not often enough to warrant keeping it. (he has other LD touring bikes). The PO got the bike in 2010 from Ohio. A Mark in Centerville near Dayton. Maybe OH Mark was an xsive but i don't know. Bike does have what I think is 80' carbs. With the EPA caps popped off. That's the only thing on the bike that is not original, except the front brake master was replaced. Inside of fuel tank is amazing for such an old bike with little rust and mostly shiny metal. I got to try keep it that way. Full tank and non-ethanol when possible will help that. Leaky petcocks #1 priority.

      I've got oil & filter in stock, got the bike insured four days ago, DMV closed Friday so need to hit up DMV tomorrow. With luck will be test riding a bit on Tuesday.

      Tires are circa Oct 2009 Bridgestone Spitfires with good amount of tread left but will slap some new tires on before going too far. Forks might end up at Traxxion Dynamics like the other bike. Really happy with those emulators and custom springs in bike #1.


      Bike SOLD. I'm happy. Got work to do. btw: E #2, i need to pony up on E #2 but never got around to it. Only 9K miles but sat for a very long time.

        Way to go, Jeff! That's a nice score!

        The alcohol in the gasoline actually keeps water in suspension so it's burned in the engine, that's what all those fuel dewatering additive cans at the parts store use.

        Aside from a minor tendency for alcohol to set to work as fantastic cleaning agent that will strip some of the metal and sealing components right out of the fuel system, letting the fuel sit long enough to saturate and change phase will let the water drop out and rust the tank just like good old ethanol-free gasoline.

        Ride it, use the fuel, refill with fresh fuel before you park and don't let the stuff sit in the tank or it can turn into a hard green goo that's loads of fun to get out of the carburetors.

          It's beautiful!

          Congratulations.

          The condition is unusually nice.

          I wish my Bagger was a Standard when I get on the highway.

              Completed all the hocus pocus mumbo jumbo razz-a-matazz and got insurance, registration, plates and title etc.

              This afternoon made some time to change the oil & filter. Went well and no gremlins. (this bike drained out 3 qts, not 6 qts of 1/2 gas 1/2 oil mega high gloss black with gold sheen like my first E)

              Dumped in some Seafoam, then took it for a little ride to meet up with Marty. Bike running aok. So got bold and jumped on i-85 south for a bit. Hums along nice at 70mph. Shouldn't be doing that on an unknown bike but i was feeling confident in the bike. Stopped by to show the bike to a former Yamaha dealer that still sells parts and such. He was surprised how clean is was and mostly original in good condition. Anyway, made it home - trial run was a success.

              Bike has 2009 Bridgestone Spitfires that gotta go. Real stiff handling with rubber that old compared with my other E with Conti Go's. Same Jardine exhaust was my other E so that is neat. Got a burned out turn signal bulb to fix and otherwise will just change the FD & Mid gear fluid and ride it a bit more. Was shocked at how nice the suspension was. Forks and shocks more than usable to ride.
