  • Selling my prized possession.

I recently purchased this Valk with 19k miles on it.

So, I'm selling my 1978 XS1100E. I haven't rode it much the last couple years. I might have put 100 miles on it last year was all. It's in very nice condition.

Nice score! That's a sweet Valk!
My friend's owned one for the past 6 years. Bulletproof.

Good luck with the sale of your 11. Sad, but understand.

If you need or desire info on installing a cruise control, let me know.
I put an Audiovox CC-100 on his, works great.

Thanks. It sold quick in. The Valk is a nice comfortable ride for an old guy like me. It is scary fast, like the XS. I nicknamed it The Beast.

            Hey Ben,
When it comes to the Valks, it kinda depends on the frame of the rider.
With my friend Tim, he loves his. He's 6'4", and is much more comfortable on a cruiser than something like an 11, a C14, a BMW RT, an FJR, or an ST. Long legs, so it lets him stretch out.

I tried hard to talk him into something like my bike and showed him tons of awesome deals. But he found his '99, and has been getting it tweaked and set up custom to suite him for the past 6 years. The result has been quite impressive, and he's very happy.

The one pictured in this thread has the interstate package. Those are way cool, and set up for long range touring. It even comes with a fuel guage! (Something the standard Valks didn't have.)

The only thing a Valk owner needs to watch out about is speed in twisties.
They don't have a lot of clearances, so hard leaning in sharp corners usually ends in grinding or possible crashing. Tim does pretty well though, and has learned what his max speed and lean angles are. He usually just lets me rock on through the twisties, and catches back up pretty quickly.

The Interstate has a bigger gas tank, plus there's also a belly tank option that can be added for amazing fuel storage and great range, even if it only averages 32-35 mpg. With around 10 gallons total capacity, you can still have long range touring confidence, regardless of how far it is between fuel stops, or headwinds.

Congrats on the 11's quick sale, and the sweet Valk. That 1500 GW flat 6 is a low-slung, smooth gem...
            Ride safe!
