FYI, the 750/850 FD will actually hurt the top end because the engine less to the ground power to overcome the air resistance. If you're wanting top end stay with the lower gears or go even lower.

The taller gear change lowers the RPM at cruising speed and causes less wear on the engine.

Thinking back, one of the fastest 11's I've personally witnessed was Jeremy Reed's bobber. Add to the fact that he was a little guy, weight wise.

I can recall one time where another member and I were running our Maxim's full out. That was the one time I had gotten mine up to the fastest it had ever gone, when Jeremy blew past both of us!

But even then, we were no where near the seller's claimed speed.
      (Nor was Jeremy.)

Greg's correct about the 850 gearing, too. As modified as I've ever seen an 11's engine, it just doesn't create enough HP/torque on top end to achieve 150+ mph. I always had to drop down to 4th gear for max top speed. Couldn't do it in 5th w/ the 850 drive's gearing.

Looking at the picture of that bike for sale, I'd feel safe in calling bs on that top speed. No windscreen to aid aerodynamics, no fork brace...
I'd imagine quite a hairy ride on it around 125! It'd take either a very brave soul, (or a really crazy one...)
      Lol...

But, who knows? I guess anything's possible.

I think the bike has enough horsepower if you did a chain conversion you might be able to get it into the 140's. And yes, that bobber of Jeremy's was very quick.

IIRC, that was already tried here shortly after we joined here. If I remember, even runnin' the bike with a slight downgrade, geared a bit taller with the chain-drive conversion, mother nature's wind resistance as BA80 mentioned was the end of top-end at about the 140mph mark. Had the revs left to hit redline..........just wasn't happenin' though. Remember that thread being fairly long for that middle drive conversion along with the testing portion.

For fun I asked for pictures of the fork tubes under the fork boots. He said he would take pictures tonight.
