  • 82' XJ1100 with fairing

Hey guys, it's been many years, but it's time to part with my green machine . I bought an M109R last year, and I'm cleaning out the collection in the garage(Wife's orders). The Maxim is the last one to go. She's been a solid runner, and has had a ton of work done. I listed most of the things that I've done to it in the CL posting.

Yep.......that particular fairing was part of the 'tour-pac' that could be had for the XJ. The sidecases and mount were the same as the ones for the initial upcoming of the Yammy V-4 Venture.

BTW, Mike(soccer4m) has one of those farings mounted on his XJ, color matched to the original XJ's blue color. IIRC, his XJ now has over 125K on it with no serious issues as of yet. If he sees this thread he may post a pic of his bike.

            xj

Yep, that is an original factory fairing, the x1,,,,only made for the xj1100, though others will fit. Current mileage is 134000 and no problems on motor or trans, just lots of 20/50 oil changes and diff. oil. Purring like a kitten. I will get a pic up or if anyone is really interested now, there are a lot of pics on Jerrys website with the colorado and calif rallies, Jerry rocks with the camera along with DiverRay. The xj rocks in every area, handling, power, smoothness but only wish I had one more gear as the smaller tire runs higher rpm's than my other bike the xs1100, 1981, at freeway speeds. Solution: FD swap.

BTW, ZRX carbs have the same spacing as the XS11... http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread.php?t=35462

Actual solution: back off the throttle down to 5K rpm or less while cruising LD rides.

                  the xj

Quick correction,,,my xj is the one with the mileage so as not to confuse the seller of the green xj,,,,anyway here is the Blue Rocket, owned since 1986 in Sun Diego,,,, but Jerry's Xj has been about everywhere in the USA pulling a Trailer to a lot of the rallies. GO JERRY.

Actually, the FD swap is a great solution. Guys have been swapping sprocket sizes on chain driven bikes for a century, this is our way of making the bike what it should be for long distance touring. Any bike of this size having to turn 5000 RPM at a legal 70 miles per hour is clearly not thinking about anything but quarter mile times. I don't give a care about those anymore, my XS requires less shifting to get up to speed, so probably is faster.

Oops... My bad and my apologies. Not wanting to get a for sale thread off track like this.

When I first saw Soccer4M with his bike at the 2011 Durango Rally and then again at the Colorado Rally in 2014, I really like the bike and fairing combo. That green color looks great as well!

Someone will get a great deal on a nice bike at that price!

Haha, it's all good, everyone loves discussions! I'm keeping the price low to hopefully sell it fairly soon. It definitely feels like it needs the carbs balanced, but other than that she's awesome! Hopefully someone feels the giveaway price is good, and gives her a good home soon!

You should get Yahman's YICS Eliminator Tool..its used to sycn the carbs but can be left in...it closes off each carb and the results after re-synching are better throttle response and a smoother running engine...the difference is quite noticeable...as it is...I'm sending you a PM...
