Jardine Spagetti on that middle standard, it may even be a butchered Venturer. The one on the left is a LG. At least 2 engines in that pic are 81's.

Those were the CL bikes for sale for years out of West Bloomfield. They were junk when I looked at them, and still are all these years later.

Well.....I actually picked these 3 up. Total about 2 1/2 bikes worth of parts. All 3 bikes have the matching numbered engine. None of the engines are locked up and everything seems at a minimum in rebuildable shape. I believe the LG engine is currently in running shape but have yet to check compression and start it. Need replacement coils first. Who ever owned them before was trying to combine into a single bike. They swapped the front & rear suspension/wheels from the H onto the LG. Wish I had the H tank but oh well. I think he was going for a complete blacked out look. Did a hack job on the wiring but not enough that I cant repair it. As for the LH, it is all there except they took the head off. Not sure why yet as I have not really dug into that one yet but I can turn it over by hand so there is hope of good parts. Only downside is only the LG came with a title. Oh well. My plan is to starting a LG cafe build. I figure it is not in the condition needed to restore to original so might as well have fun with it. I will post progress as it comes along (which will probably be slow at best, time/money limited).

Side note - The guy selling it actually owned a shop up there. His plan was to part them out but decided it was not worth the effort of tearing them down and just sold as a package deal. He said he got the bikes locally and that as far as he knows they were not from the Detroit area at all. Could be wrong. Don't know

Thanks. I have learned a lot in the last two weeks just browsing on this forum. I also found on youtube an xs11 cafe build from a guy in Tasmania. Picked up quite a few things from watching that. IF you haven't seen it, definitely check it out.

                      Finally making some progress

So......time to revive an old thread. It has been over a year now but I have finally been able to make some progress on the bikes. I was able to really go through them and get an idea of what I had.

The engine in the LG is going to need a rebuild. Rod bearing is super tight, not seized but not right either. Yet to pull the case apart to see if it is a spun bearing or what but it isnt good. The engine from the H is actually solid. Using that as the current build. Stole the cylinders and head from the LG to use on the H engine. Barrels needs a good cleaning so dingle balled them and got a new set of ebay rings to slap in. This is only going to be a temp engine while I bore and build the LG. Tore apart the head and gave that a good cleaning. I work in the same building as a machine shop so I can get them to give it a good deck. Also picked up a set of early model cams. Should help.....we will see.

Only came with one set of carbs. Pulled those apart and found 3 out of 4 diaphragms were bad. Checked out pricing and decided instead to get a set of ZRX carbs. Hard to beat a set for $150.

Somehow the bikes came with ZERO front brake parts. Decided that if I am going to spend money on brakes I might as well upgrade them, and if upgrading the brakes I might as well upgrade the entire front end. Hence, going with the busa swap. Picked up all the components individually on ebay (about 175 for everything) and some bearings from all balls (should be in by this weekend so I can hang the front end on the frame).

Between all 3 bikes, only got 1 wiring harness. I made sure everything was hooked up and tested continuity throughout. Seems like it is good. I will know more once I get coils and a battery and can give it a real test. It had a few spots that were hacked as they tried to modify the lights and turn signals. Should be an easy fix though.

I know that the majority of everyone on this forum dislikes bikes being cut apart but I decided this sport cruiser needed more sport. Not going cafe style but maybe a few cues. Think more V-Rod meets cafe meets XS. Straight line without completely crapping your pants in the turns.

I will try to post more over the winter as I get more time and parts. In lieu of more details I will try to post some pictures soon.

I'm one of those guys that is disappointed to see a nice bike cut up, but you rescued those bikes form the dump! Nobody could frown on whatever you do with them.

                        Looking forward to your story.
