The write up is pretty impressive...if this was an XJ I'm fairly certain I'd be negotiating to purchase it.
"The Yamaha XS1100 was Yamaha's first superbike. It has shaft drive and about 100 horsepower. This example had a frame off total re-build by Ole's Classic Cycle in Milaca Minnesota in 2012. Ole is an expert for these bikes with over 20 years of experience in building exceptional motorcycles.
Ole restores and rebuilds a handful of such bikes a year and goes through a nuts and bolts restoration with mild custom changes to what he think makes the best looking and performing XS out there.
1. Bike is totally disassembled and inspected
2. Engine is torn down and completely rebuilt including pistons, rings, and valves, lower end is inspected and assembled with new gaskets.
3. Transmission is inspected, a second gear update is performed and new clutch installed
4. Carbs are disassembled ultrasonically cleaned, rebuild kits installed
5. Gas tank is acid etched and cream coated to prevent rust
6. Petcocks are rebuilt
7. Spark plugs, spark caps and battery are replaced
8. New turn signals are installed
9. All brakes front and rear have been replaced along with rebuilding both master cylinders
10. New Dunlop tires installed on front and rear
11. Tank and side covers have been repainted and new emblems installed
12. New handle bars, controls, grips and mirrors have been installed
13. Seat is new old stock and in excellent condition
14. Both tachometer and speedometer are new
15. Engine has been painted with high heat Black, engine covers have been buffed and assembled with new polished stainless steel fasteners.
16. New Mac performance 4 into 1 exhaust system installed
17. Bike is fully assembled, carbs are balanced, oil and filter are changed and road tested
This bike now has just over 1,000 miles since its restoration. I have re-chromed the front fender and grab rail and added a fork brace and small windscreen. It has been kept in a heated garage and has not been in the rain. Sale includes owner's manual and shop manual.
Own a piece of history and a fast, comfortable and reliable motorcycle. $2,500."Found my XJ on 19 March 2016 -
The price
At the bottom of the article is $2,200.00
I'd say it's well worth the price asked and then some.
