hate to say it...but rarely does one get back the money they invest into a machine...As well done as this may be its not OEM so $5500 is just too much to ask...now if the Doc. had restored this to all original condition then i would say $5500 would be fair...so in short to command top dollar condition and originality win the big bucks...GLWS

I have already sold two thousand worth of parts that came with the bike.
I am a BMW guy and need the shelf space for my Beemer parts.
What I have left is lots of big parts like this brand new head with new valves and gasket ki

Part out those parts, then $2500 for the bike is a starting point for legit negotiation with the right buyer. Most guys want a bike or parts, it is difficult to find someone wantng it all as a package, and it has to be a good deal. Maybe up the chances of selling it all by separating?

You are forgetting that there is about $3000 (retail ) in parts. Mint gas tank, brand new head excellent Yamaha optional seat, used heads, transmissions, some carbs, wheels etc.

Those aren't Ohlins shocks, I think they are a "pit bike" shock from ebay, like the ones I put on my ZRX when I sent the stock shocks for a custom rebuild. $85. I would expect them to outperform (better handlng) 38 year old stock shocks.

Work well but not Ohlins...

For the performance, the aftermarket pipes are gonna be loud, and unless there is a gps top speed run done to compare how they "run out" the bike probably has more noise than an extra dose of any kind of speed.

It is a nice bike but it is not near a $5500 package. Not stock exhaust, not chrome fenders, non-original engine, mix and match parts (albeit parts that are in nice shape). For $5500 a guy can buy a whole lot of real "original" fast in a whole lot of bikes.

Just being realistic and hope it helps re-adjust the sights on the price and description.

In my opinion everything that the Doc did in rebuilding this bike was an improvement over the original. He spared no expense in the rebuild.
It is very fast and handles very well. He had a god awful looking custom seat on it when I bought it and I have been looking for a replacement seat since then.
I have all the parts that were left over from the build including a brand new unused head with valves, gasket sets, wiring harnesses, transmissions, wheels, seat and restored gas tank. all go with the sale of the bike

.......would be more like it, as even the factory pinstriping on tank wasn't re-installed. Ride it with an ear to ear grin anyways! BTW, the aftermarket 'piggyback' gas rear shocks look nice on the bike

No kick shaft means the engine is a transplant too . Pieced together is not the same as restored . Not dissing it but not mint if not original .

Looks like Ohlin's suspension, and that's the shock reservoir.
If so, that's expensive stuff.

A front/rear set for my C14 costs around $3K.
