So why am I selling? I am 79 and now is the time to give up Motorcycling
I have been Accident Free on the road for 40 years and don’t ride much anymore.
I hate to give up My XS1100, as it is the last of my Dirt and Road Bikes.

Have preformed bike maintenance on the XS1100 for 32 years
Carbs are clean, idles good, good Dunlop Tires, double seat clean
Have Original Yamaha and Clymers Owners Manuals

Included are many Spare Parts:
Brakes: Discs F/R, SS Lines, Calipers, Caliper Repair Kits
Electrics: TIC Boxes, Tach, Speedometer 0-160, Voltage Reg, Starter Relay
Misc: Valve Shim Replacement Tool, Horn Buttons, Fuel Line,

Nice bike ..Wish I still lived in L A .Would be on way to your house! Always wanted to drive a bike cross country!!??? It's hard to let that bike go I bet...

Is that a Plexistar fairing? Also, is it recommended to add that edge guard to the top of the shield?

Well Guys .... I finally sold my Everlasting 80 XS1100G Std that I bought new for $3000. I will miss this MC more than any street or dirt bike I have had. I found a nice guy, mid 50's, whose father has a XS1100 when he was in high school. Here was someone who would appreciate this old bike.

I did all of my own maintenance, mainly carbs, valve, brakes, changed all tires. I also had bought a Yamaha 83 XV920 Virago new ($2500) which I sold last year. These two shaft drive Yamaha's were very maintenance free. Just change oil. No chain to mess with. All street bikes I have owned had center stands. Great for maintenance and in the garage. Dirt bikes - just put a stand under the bike for chain work. I don't see how one can easily do the chain on a big bike without a center stand.

I like a windshield on a street bike to deflect the wind blast while riding. On the road, a windshield cuts down the buffeting and noise. I always wear ear plugs while riding on street or dirt. I commuted on both Yamaha's for over 30 years and always had a windshield. The problem with a windshield is heigth. You should be able to just see over it. The Strip on top of my XS11 deflected the wind blast just a little more.

I had National Cycle 3 (?) windshields all the time. They can be easily detached and will maybe breakaway when the bike falls over. I have had to replace broken windshield over the years, but National stopped making the XS1100 model long ago. I have had to repair the mounts on the windshield, and it is nearing its end. The new owner is taking it off.

I had also bought a couple of older 79 XS1100 Stds cheap, which I had fixed up to sharing commuting. I was trying to keep from putting so many miles on my original 80 XS1100.

So why had I not bought a newer bike?? Well the XS1100 was good on the road and long commuting and the Virago was good commuting. Always good to have two bikes for a spare while fixing the other. AND, I never found a bike that I thought was worth replacing what I had. I was not spending a lot of money on repairs, and I really like these Yamaha's.

Almost 80 !!, I may buy a smaller bike around 400-450 lbs to ride around town. Something air cooled and simple, a twin. Got to keep up riding for the fun and balance. I will miss Y'll but will look in from time to time.
