You are right, that I should not be jumping to conclusions! For that I apologize. For standing up for the fact that we are not just a for sale site ....nope. Too many seem to find our site just long enough to get a bike running to make more money.

Well I will say I do appreciate your consideration and I do understand what you're saying about some folks just using this site as sales engine, but that's not what I'm about.

With my particular family life and work schedule, I just don't get a chance to post that often, plus it takes away from my ridin time, I just happen to one of those that comes home from work, jumps on the bike goes riding around my area and that is only if my wife doesn't have something already planned for me which is quite often!!!

Plus I usual get my parts from speed and sports, yamahas' parts nation and Babbits cycle parts they're all Yamaha OEM parts dealers.

Actually curious as to no one has put those site on your we links page, between the three of them, I've found just about everything I've needed to restore my bikes. That is not say I don't by some parts from E-Bay, financially it just makes more sense to buy used i.e. $500.00 brand new speedos.

Try this. Go to the first page of the members list and count down how many members have fewer than 20 posts. Then figure out the percentage. Now go to any other page in the member list and compare. Pretty much the same result throughout the pages, give or take a bit (average).

I figure even those who find our site just to sell their bike or parts are still bringing us the chance at it rather than the chop-up kid who will buy it to make a poor excuse for a Harley look alike that runs bad and looks worse and gives the XS11 a bad name.

I think if they are really interested in the bike and stay long enough, the community here wins them over in the long run. I know I passed up a smoking deal on a buddy's practically new Harley because I figured if I started riding anything else I might spend less and less time here with folks I enjoyed knowing.

I completely agree. Personally I think we should get rid of the minimum post requirement to post threads in the for sale forum. If somebody's got XS11's or parts they want to sell, just let 'em post in the correct forum. Lord knows there's always somebody looking for bikes and parts around here.

Do any of you guys use these sites or have you heard of them, just thought I would throw them out there if someone wanted to post them on the links page.

Also, would anyone happen to know where I might find a Calafia double chrome trim rail for the luggage trunk on the bike I posted on E-bay, sale or not, I'd like to get it back to what you see on the old pics (lost in paint transaction).

Amazon is getting to be my favorite place for parts. I saved a ton getting the front end parts for my Cherokee there, and they sell quite a few XS11 parts too, strangely enough. I check them first as they usually have the most competitive prices. If they don't have what I'm looking for I'll usually check Z1 Enterprises, Mikes XS, and Parts N More. If I need a factory part I check the parts fiche, get the Yamaha part number, and Google it.

But you can never have too many parts sources, and I'll definitely add those to my bookmarks. Thanks.
