I almost acquired something similar

Wife and I were bumming because I made a deal to buy the following bagger, making arrangements with the seller up 'till midnight last Wednesday. We agreed I'd come and get it Thursday after work for $600. He sold to "his buddy" before I could there.

What happened to the Indigo Blue with white accent paint scheme? Was this also an option or has it been repainted?

Billy...thats a 1980G not an '81 Venturer...oh wait..I see what you mean...looks like someone did paint or replace the tank on the Venturer...it should have the white insets...it did not come from the factory that way...they were all Indigo Blue with white insets

OEM Spec Venturer

This is the Venturer as offered in 1981. The white tank patch and corresponding pinstripe decals are available from an aftermarket source today. Don't know whether or not the OEM white tank patch was paint or decal.

Unlike all previous Standards, the Venturer came with bags, fairing, and luggage rack from Yamaha - not added by the dealers. One paint color only and a one gallon larger tank. Yamaha also used the Special exhaust. I do not know the reason for that change other than it helps keep the side bags warm. A fairly rare bird now.
