Its been quite a while since I posted on here.
I sold all my bikes 1.5 years ago and moved 600 miles south out of cold MN
I'm starting to get the urge for another so I have been watching Craig's list
This looks like a good example of what not to do with a xs

Tis an 81Venturer, and all still intact, cept for front fender change(Yamaha Accessory at the time), added fork-brace loop, seat change and missing the slide-in backrest. Original exhaust doesn't look TOO far gone either. Looks like a leaking batt. did the chrome damage on exhaust at some time or other.

        Venturer

Not a bad looking bike. Will need a (hard to find) seat and possibly other items. See if he has the (hard to find) lowers for the fairing. An offer for less than asking price may be in order.

Not all of us are over 6 feet tall, its what you've got to do if you're vertically challenged, fair play to the owner.

A new fender can be sourced from Mike's XS. The seat could pose a challenge. Otherwise, it could be a great bike....or a POS.

The thing that scares me that most out of it is what did he have to cut out of the frame to drop the seat down where battery should be.
If it wasn't an hour and a half away from me I would go see if it is as bad as I think.
I did buy a bike this week.
              A 99 Honda Shadow 750
The smallest bike I have had in a long time, I think I like.
Now if it would just quit raining I would ride it.

You know you want to........just Shadow right on over there.
If you look, you can see the seat is cut down(look at seat in relationship to backside of tank).
Sidecovers are located correctly, so looks to me no mods were done, except for seat.
My bet is its a fairly decent bike with just the normal issues that'll pop up due to lack of preventative maint.
You even get the bonus from Yammy Accessories at the time......fender and the 'loop' fork brace!
A bit of a bummer though that someone let the battery leak acid on the left side exhaust.

Marty good point on the side cover it looks to be about 3 inches to low. It also does not appear to be the correct shape and size, almost looks as if the emblem is bigger than what I am accustomed to seeing?

In the Craigs list add the guy says the battery is relocated to the saddle bag.
