  • 1981 SF for sale

Well I think it's time to sell my much beloved 1981 SF
I am no longer comfortable entrusting my well being to distracted youngsters
I know when it's your time comes it comes
It comes with literally a truckload of parts including a spare low mileage mns engine and two extra exhausts
The only bad is I had some work done on it by a local mechanic and when I got it back when it was in first gear you could only give it enough gas to get it rolling
    Anymore and it skips
But as soon as you get it up into second it's go time right through all the rest of the gears
That said I would not hesitate to drive down to the gas station fill it up and take it across the country
I wanted to get this up tonight but will add more info tomorrow

That bike looks awefully familiar from yrs. back on here. Are you the one with the pair of them 81's or bought from the one that had the pair?........and I remember he was selling one of them at that time. Seemed to remember location being similar.
Anyways, if that's the bike I THINK it is, would be a heck of a buy for someone for sure!

            Hi
No that was my good friend and former forum member doninnh
In fact that's the rear wheel of his bike in the above picture
He moved on to a 1800cc vstar and another friend of mine bought that bike
Sad thing about that bike my buddy went to start it about a week after he bought it from Don and some fuel had leaked by the carbs into the air box
It took one backfire and the thing burnt right up. He managed to pull it out of his shed but got some pretty good burns on his hands doing so
I wanted to cry Don had sunk a whole bunch of money into it
Thanks for the positive comment. I feel somebody will get get a great bike if they buy it

I'll try to remember a few of the extras that come with the bike
First of all for some reason I called the bike an SF but it's obviously to the sharp eyed people a SH. Sorry
              So it's an 81 with 27600 miles
I've owned it for 18 years and bought it with 18 grand on the odometer
It has a real nice kerker exhaust on it now. One of the other is also a kerker in almost as good of shape. And I don't think I have to tell anyone how rare the kerkers are these days The third system is a spaghetti type 4 into 2
I have a brand new in the box oil cooler
I have new controls (both sides) from mike xs still in box
Stainless steel brake lines in the box
I have atleast one if not 2 of TCs fuse box replacements with all the connectors ready to go
              Uninstalled brake speed bleeders
If you accessed the picture link you can see it has the spin on oil filter adaptor from TC that works like a dream
I have a practicaly brand new old stock backrest it is a yamaha I'm pretty sure that was on Dons bike for a short time It has the black leather pouch on the back of it. Great shape
The spare engine is a MNS with supposedly very low miles on it. I've had the starter cover off and the valve cover off and I think it is as the person told me when they sold it to me. "Under 2000 miles"
It was definitely in an accident and would need some work to run. But I do think it's doable. If not there's a whole bunch of practically new parts there
I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff but that's what's coming to mind now
              Thanks for looking

                Did I miss the price?

What are you asking for it? Not sure the timing is right for us... but we've been looking for a bike or two in that area.

Wow Kat, Maine is about as far as you can go from Texas for a bike.

Looks like a nice one. More pics soon!

She's beautiful! I don't have a lot of pics but I'll post some later. The one shown is still the best pic though.
We were looking for a bike in Maine. We came back to Texas but she's staying there so we can fly in, go grab her and ride while we're there.
It's the start of one of our dreams coming to fruition... Life is good.
