      you have an exceptional eye Marty...81's had slotted rotors and 80's were solid...except this one has been drilled out...a nice pattern too...

        '80 Specials have slotted rotors. '81 Specials have black final drives and black jugs.

            AND ... I believe the 1981's (both Special and Venturer) also came from the factory with the black valve cover.
