Well hi folks, been some time since Ive been around. Some may remember me. Like a lot of folks I have too many projects. I'm thinking I may sell the Xs11 as I try and thin my herd as it were.
Its a 1979 XS 1100 with 80 motor (if memory serves). I had it up and running in 2009 and that is when I was active here in the forum. I had put on new tires, bought a better seat from a forum member and also for those that remember me, I had a few weak cylinders. I forget the mans name right now but I wanna say he was in the oregon or seattle area (perhaps it will come back to me), but I had bought an entire top end from him from a rather low milage bike that he was parting out. (jug / pistons/ head ).
At the end of that summer I dissasembled the top half of the engine and revealed the probs that were effecting those two inner cylinders. Well it is still partially disassembled and has been sitting on the centerstand with a block under the front frame since then, to keep pressure off the tires. It is a complete bike. I had worked my way thru all of the various systems and they all functioned at the time. I am trying to find some pictures now, and will post them tonight once I locate them. Not sure what the value's are like these days but I have too many jeeps and a few boats to deal with (gonna thin the jeep herd too). Sorry I cant provide a better initial advert in this first post but I'll keep working at it tonight.
I am in southwest lower michigan (vicinity of kalamazoo). I was considering building a lotus 7 and using the engine from the XS but have decided against it in favor of something more modern as far as parts availability as well as just the ease of using automotive engine/trans/driveshaft/shifting. Thats it for now, I will start digging thru old computer backups to find the pictures.
