    Why does it have

a round steel tube rear grab handle instead of the aluminum one on it when it's a Special? Is there a variation and the reason I ask is because my '79 SF has the aluminum grab rail. Then again it also has side and rear luggage but no fiberglass fairing.

I also liked the high polish someone did to the engine pieces.

All of my bikes are projects, maybe one day I'll have them running.

Pretty bike...not a fan of pinstriping...seat rail looks aftermarket...mufflers have been drilled out...

        Hey, G -

Well, the '79 SF did come from the factory with a chromed round steel tube grab rail, but not the same one that's on this bike.

The true SF grab rail has an upward bend in it right where the rear turn signals stick out. The one on this Ebay bike has no such bend.

The grab rail on this Ebay SF looks suspiciously like the grab rail from an '80 Standard (G model).

As for the engine ... it sure looks to me like the pick-ups cover, the alternator cover, the clutch cover(s), and maybe the valve cover have all been chrome plated.
