  • 1979 XS1100 Standard - North Jersey

    1979 XS1100 standard, 2nd owner, 43,000 miles

Location: Greenwood Lake, NY (on NY/NJ border)

Mods currently on bike ==> Fairing, Kerker exhaust, K&N filters, jetting kit, tkat fork brace, 12V DC outlet

Recent maintenance ==> New oil & filter using T6 Rotella at 43,026 miles. Air cleaners washed at this interval also. Mid and final gear drive oils were replaced at 42,440 miles. This included spline greasing.

Valves last checked at 31,213 miles and they were in spec.
    Forks rebuilt at 38,112.
New battery in June of 2012 at 39,992.
Tires last replaced (front and rear) on 9/10/12 at 40,103.
Clutch rebuilt (new fiber plates) replaced at 40,443.

Detailed maintenance records exist back to my date of purchase (May 15th, 1994) when the bike came with 12,800 miles on her. Throttle and clutch operate smoothly with very light pulls because cables have been kept lubed and efficiently routed. All lights, gauges and horn function perfectly. The bike has been garaged 100% of the time by myself and by the previous owner (who is a friend of mine who I am still in contact with).

Current running condition is excellent: there are no issues.

Owners manual and shop manual come with the bike. I also have the Progressive replacement fork springs (new in box /// part# 434334).

I would really like to see the bike go to an enthusiast before I resort to moving it on Craigs list. So the ad for this bike appears nowhere but here.

    $1,300

          Hi Manshack,
I would think 4 days would be more realistic on new to you 30+ Year old motorcycle. Be prepared to have to replace tires and tinker with something before you go. As suggested it is already fairly cool in that part of the country and the rainy season for at least some of the ride. With some extra time you could see some excellent twisty roads without going far out of your way
Look at BillyRock's thread about his recent fly and ride home

With some preparation and a back up plan quite "do able'
We will want to see picture
