  • Painfull Decision

Well, has came to the point of hard decisions......
    1980 MNS up for sale
Time, Part availability and Personal Reasons....
About year ago planned timing chain replacement, well might as well pull the head right? Did and done....reseat valves, check guides, new seals....
Well, seemed to have a bit too much top end chatter for my liking.....
Pulled the jug...bore check revealed some egging....best guess is 40-50 k miles. Have been unable to find piston replacement....is std bore now.
This was a frame up tlc refurbish appx 7 yrs ago. Did second gear repair at that time. Too many spares to list...

    Make me a respectful offer....
    Located in Olney, IL.
PM for contact # if interested.
    Thanks

Makes no sense to me... You do head work then it seems to be making more upper end noise after so you pull it apart and decide it needs new pistons? How was the compression and oil consumption? Why would you jump to the conclusion that it needs pistons? How much wear we talking about?

These bikes will run 100K no problem. I think what ever noise you were getting was likely due to the work you last did. Might want to put it together, double check your valve adjustment and continue to ride it. Put a new vmax tensioner on it and the noise might go away...

They don't wail like a screeching ninja, the don't rumble like a harley. They just growl like a spactic, stressed out badger waiting to rip your face off and eat your soul." Trainzz~RIP~
