  • Semi-Basketcase XS1100

I have joined this forum a few years ago, got some good advice, but I might sell this project. If someone is in Oklahoma City area, I would pay for help! Otherwise I should sell this bike. Asking $1,100.
Like it says, semi-basketcase. 100% Complete, but needs 10-15 hours to reassemble. Case was never split. Needs the following reinstalled:
shift forks and gears, oil pump, clutch, brake lines, master cylinders, rotors, exhaust, all engine covers. I am tired of fighting with the damn shift forks!!! Had a little issue with 2nd gear, and needed slight restoration. Engine is very nice, ran great. Less than 9K original miles. I have tons of stuff I bought for it. K&N filter, master cylinder front and rear rebuild kit, caliper rebuild, steel braided brake lines, new front and back tires, taken apart and greased final drive, replaced rear wheel bearings (the original looked great after removal and probably didn't need to be changed), new plug caps, wires, coils, plugs, Has sissy bar and luggage rack, highway pegs (needs re-weld) rebuilt carbs, octopus removal, reupholstered seat, probably other stuff I can't remember. Everything not mentioned is pretty much stock. Will post pictures tonight hopefully

Semi-basket case?.......just never heard that particular terminology before.
Is that kinda like semi-pregnant?. No intent to offend, just what poped up in my thoughts.

        Mrfiznix,

That may be a little much asking price for the condition. You would certainly be better off putting it back together, getting it running and then selling it. May decide to keep it and ride it?

Like Marty said, there are XSives in OK who can help.

Get help and fix it...I did with my 82 XJ...I swapped the old gearsets for new ones but we still had to deal with the shift forks...once its fixed and back together you'll be glad you kept it...this is a familiar scenario..people frustrated with some aspect of their ride/project and give up...when in reality with some help it isnt that big of a deal... Yeah Semi-basketcase, not like semi-pregnant, but like a half chub. All the pieces are there and you know it works, its just not ready to ride!!!! Well I have everything organized, and its not fully disassembled in a pile of junk. I didn't get to put pics up, but its in pretty decent shape. Yeah, I'm asking under what I think it might be worth if I parted it out, but probably too close to what it would be worth if it was all together and running.

That looks more like " some assembly required" than Basket case.

                      Jeff,
                      It's an '80. The seat won't fit your '79.

Oh man, thanks marty, I thought it was a 79. I would definitely keep the bike anyway if I were him and get it fixed. Its really not a bad looking bike.
