Just talked to the owner, he says it runs great and the original pipes are in great shape too. I already have too many projects, but someone from here should get it.

Broke tranny? I will never again replace an XS11 transmission. I still have nightmares. My hands will never be the same after that endeavor.

OK, OK, I've read some threads and seen some pics of the infamous ' 2nd gear dremel fix' for our bikes. Now, really, how difficult is it do do? An objective answer might help me at some point. I'd like to get this bike, not gonna happen, but someday I might run into one I will get. My mechanical abilities are pretty good, tear down/ rebuild carbs, forks, brake calipers, etc.

I truly believe it comes down to a few options Mark: time/frustration/patience & money. Me personally, I'd never buy one with a bad tranny. In-fact, I may never buy another XS again. However, there are so many threads on here regarding the fix, and live support, that it would be impossible NOT to get it done properly.

That tranny fix is no problem. It's a matter of spending the time and looking at the pictures. With that being said, I have a motor upside down that I CAN'T GET THE FRIGGING SHAFT OUT OF!!!!!.
I have done them 3 times with no problems but this one I can't budge.
