I like cafe racers. I like them much better if you do one from a Sportster.



A few people can pull it off with the XS1100, but too often it's a failure. This is my biased opinion, and mine alone.

Nate I think you are right on the frame rails being cut. If that is the case it would make it a bit harder to restore even if he kept all the parts. I can't figure out where he added value to the bike, if it was a stock MNS with the low miles then maybe he might find a buyer at the asking price but as it is now it may limit the market.

either of those would have been a better choice than whats on this bike now...but like i said and Don re-iterated ... all these mods to the bike are reversable...wether or not he still has the original parts...well....

What a fickle bunch we can be. At e=least he kept the mods to easily reversible items. Did he or did he not make it better, well, that is strictly a matter of opinion. And the only opinion that really matters is that of whoever decides to buy it.

Don't get me wrong. I'm definitely not in the "don't touch it, Yamaha got it right the first time" camp. I appreciate and love the look of these stock bikes but not all can be restored. There's good ways to do this:

Couldn't agree more. I've seen some bad "cafe racers" but this one takes the cake for "tried hard and then failed". No side covers, didn't even move the electronics, should have swapped out the front end/triple trees instead (or at least just made it have a higher stance), why is that seat a mile long?, I could go on forever.

This is what happens when you think you know what you're doing and build beyond your means. There's a way to do a cafe racer and there's a way not to. What a waste of a good bike and a ton of money. Bleh.

personally I dont like it...but they did capture the cafe' look well...it doesnt look like anything was chopped handlebars and seat/rear cowl and side covers are the most obvious changes...they could be reversed...not beyond resurrection...Now the asking price is a wad of carp...
