I have never heard of the A-1 Edition.
Can anyone shed some light on this ?
The rear tire is just about ready to blow but a nice candidate for a resto.

Apparently an A-1 bike to someone at some point in time......

My wife is 5' 2" and had the same problem, I made some risers to lift the rests up but mounted them on the original position. Your seat is quite a lot higher than standard which would make the original rear rests further away, I bet your missus was well comfy with the comfy seat and forward rests, like sitting in an armchair.

Knowing you lads' bikes have more forward front rests than Euro bikes, I originally thought the ebay bike's rear rests may have been brought forward for the rider to tuck his legs into.

Yes the raised/forward position of my passenger pegs is better for any size passenger 'cause they can hold themselves back during braking.
The seat is a Travelcade kit that replaces both vinyl and foam but is really dense foam.
With the weight of the fairing, hard bags and trunk, and also the load that will be in them, I need to lower the seat 1 1/2", both driver and passenger, so that the passenger will sit down in more and so I can stand flat footed at red lights.

The grab bars are JIC but with the wrap around back rest she doesn't even have to hold on. Both were adapted from the HD Ultra Classic.

Never heard of an A-1 edition XJ, and I have been on the list for 14 years. There is some trouble with the tank paint and tail light lens but everything else looks clean. Problem with speedo can sometimes be traced to too-long screws which drag on the gears causing premature failure. Can be fixed. Price is under $500.00, not bad if the rest of the mechanicals are good and there is a clear title.

I have mine re-positioned the same on my Venturer. Used a cut to length piece of stainless pipe for spacer in the aluminum recess. Gives additional leg room for passenger without legs being tucked under and calfs riding up against the luggage frame-work.

I won't steak my reputation on this but maybe the A-1 edition is the saucey one could be worse might have been a frankenbike the Heinz 57 model.

I owned my Maxim 29+ yrs and never heard of an A-1 designation...sounds like BS to me...
ok I see it...on the front forks ...the yamaha name plate ..someone stuck A1 Edition badging on there...total BS!!!

Did a little searching right after I posted the link; couldn't find any mention anywhere of the "A-1 Edition" Maxim -- Strange
