        81 ?

Couldn't help but notice the wheels are from a 1980 not an 81? Might want check the VIN on this one.

Probably an 80 and not 81, meaning non linked brakes, no clutch safety. Has the dent in the tank. Hard to tell but I do not see the 1100 on the airbox. The bolts holding the engine guard on look rusty, so what else was or is rusty? Not sure the stock seat was that squared off on the passenger seat.

But then again, not asking $4,000 for it.

What is the difference between the two year model's wheels? Also, were the brakes linked on the 1981 and not the 1980? What are the VIN designations for both?

                  Hey Mike,

The 81 MNS had the same swirly wheels as the XJ, only they were painted gold just like the LG. Yes, the LH also had the same linked brake system as the XJ model.

The LG VIN started with 4H3, the LH starts with 4W1.

Will the Swirled wheels, front & rear, work on a '79 Special ?

Yes. The LH wheels or Maxim wheels are a direct swap.

                            Wheels/Tires

From the photos, the tires are white letter. Is this representative of what came on these bikes?

I like the 1980 wheels. The 1981 wheels don't do anything for me. Maybe it's just me.
