  • 79 SX1100SF For Sale Michigan

Good day! I pick up this 79 this summer after a few shots in my back allowed me to ride. It was short lived, the left leg gives way now, and I can't seem to ride a 2 wheeler. Anyway, its a great bike, due a rebuild, just because I doubt the previous owner did anything preventive maintenance wise. With just a touch of kindness from someone handy with a wrench, 22k miles, have all and more in all the pictures. There is a trunk (no luggage rack to mount on yet) and hard saddle bags if the pipes are changed. Here are a few shots...

Hey Mark- Good-looking bike. When you say that the previous owner did not put any preventive maintenance into it, how about you? What did your $1000 go towards on this bike? Not much to these bikes, and even a simple oil change goes a long way. I assume the naked pike is how it sits now. You should state in your post if you're including the original seat, as well as the fairing. As far as asking price goes, to prevent insult, set a fair price to you after comparing the bikes to others in similar condition, and post that price.

Also to note, not many people realize that Iron Mountain is in our UP, and can only be accesed to via Wisconsin, or through the mitt's Mackinac bridge.

      Maintenance

I just purchased the bike in July. The basic bike is good shape. The carb boots need replacement and petcocks definitely need rebuilt. They aren't show stoppers and I planned to do a good overhaul this winter (Michigan has a decently long winter). My back issues have prevented my riding the past 10 years. Shots in my back did wonders and I was happy to ride this summer, for months or weeks was well worth it. I acquired the fairing, bags and trunk (like $200, with $750 for the bike totaled just under 1k). I was happy to locate the fairing and bags with a trunk for the $200 (delivered) from the year 1979. The wiring matched perfectly and the bike operates wonderfully. Just a few tweaks and it will be fully up to par. Although the pain in my back was diminished considerably, my left leg is now just quitting on me. Not good when stopping at a light. I will rebuild the bike this winter and will have it fully ready next summer for riding. It should make for a easy sale. Was the fairing, bags and trunk a bad deal at $200?

        Add info

I forgot to add, that if I find a way to add a sidecar or training wheels I should be able to continue to ride. Its a beautiful machine and brings me back to the 1970's when I first started riding. I loved the ride, adding the fairing made it so much more wonderful on the highway. I believe the left leg controls could be modified to accommodate a less functional left leg. That would be the ideal situation. I'm not pressing to sell it, just a link here incase someone has an interest. I have all the seats, windshield, and all the parts in the pictures. I would guess a sidecar used would go for around $1500 (if I was lucky) and a new set of 2 rear wheels would be the same or up to around 2k new. Placing my investment at 3k, which would be fine for me. I have all winter to finish my project. If someone wanted everything for the 1k now, before I start my project that would be ok also. I just hope to see the bike on the road instead of pieced out.
