    1979 XS1100 for sale

    Good Morning!
My step father has a '79 XS1100 Special. It's been sitting in his garage for many years. He has finally decided to sell. I'm a vintage Honda guy, and I know the people on the forum I frequent provide good homes for the bikes they buy. So I decided to start here first.

The motor isn't frozen. He has some extra parts that look brand new. The bike is complete. The seat and side covers are in very good shape. Overall, the bike the seems like it would be an easy restore. If you anyone is interested, just message. Being a Honda guy, I'm not sure what the bike is worth. Please be reasonable. The bike is located in Mobile, Al. For the right amount, I could trailer it to a meeting point. Thanks

Pics are worth a thousand words.
Get a photobucket account and upload a pic to that site and paste the IMG code in this thread and you'll get a lot more action.

Or, if you've already listed it in craigslist(or elsewhere), just post the lilnk here so we can browse.

if that's it, that would be way to much for me. Since I paid $500 for my complete original except for seat and 14,000 mile bike, maybe I am spoiled but I couldn't see paying more than a grand for a really nice one.

It looks like it might be a good bike, but it has a get on it and go price. It won't be easy to sell a bike not running.

Nice extra parts he has but I didn't notice the air box or the seat grab bar, just wonder what issues it had considering the carbs are off. The pictures show quite a bit of pitting on handlebars not to mention the rust on the exhaust headers, shocks, rotors and fork cover. Would want to check out the fork tubes for pitting. Low miles are probably the reason for the inflated price.

Thanks for posting the picture. I don't have this whole photobucket thing figured out yet. The air box and grab bar a re both there. I just didn't find them until I had already taken the pictures. Since I've never touched anything with a CB or CL in the model, I had no idea what to sell it for. It's basically going to be the most reasonable offer.

My mom told him he had to get that thing out of the garage!! He's been saying "i'll restore it soon" for about 4 years. LOL

You need to see if the engine will kick over and then note that in your CL listing as you did here. At the price you have listed on CL, you aren't likely to get an offer. You will likely have to list it for half that amount to pique anyone's interest. Otherwise, your mom is going to be looking at it for awhile longer. As a reference, the last one I brought home in similar condition was $350 and it came with no title. Having a title will help you a lot.

                      Jason,
You need to have that in your CL listing. Keep in mind, it's worth a lot more if it's running. It may be worth your time if you can pull it off.

It could be the difference between $500 and $1000.
