  • Shooting out feelers if anybody wants a 79 Special project bike

You probably have seen this from my opening threads here on this bike, I have 2 titled frames, a 78 standard and a 79 special. Some Ebay found front brakes and another carb set, and purchased here 79 special forks, nice shape. And spare wheels, another swing arm assy, an automatic timing chain, a rear wheel bearing (that hard to find one) and a new throttle cable. and a big ol box of parts
Put on TC's Fuse box and electically this is working great, Motor turns has spark, tail light works and turn signals.

Would make a great ground up resto project for someone as I had planned on doing, but time, money, ability has made this a non reality for me.

This would need to be a pick up at my home in Maryland, But will make you a great deal $200 and it is all yours.

Give me a holler if you might be interested. And to be honest not looking to part this out, So would be all or none. (but will not be going to a junk yard tho)

Nice of you to offer this up at such a reasonable price. You are about 400 miles away from me. Anyone in the NE interested in splitting the travel cost and parts?

Actually, SWMBO has asked me to not get rid of this just yet, Guess she knows me all too well, as I was kinda upset with myself with doing the same with a 49 Chrysler.

So this project is still a go for me.

Wow that funny, My In-laws live just outside of Beckley, up close to the new river gourge park. And wifes mom and sister are on the way up today.

Hopefully will be able to get into this again, and start a nice new build blog.

Thanks for thinking about making that drive. Been down there many times over the years.

Keep me in mind if you decide to part ways with your stash. I'm a couple hours south but visit a friend up there a few times a year

Well after a lot of thinking, I have decided to let this go, in hopes that one of you guru's can bring it fully back to life.

But I do need to ask a slightly higher price, $300 for everything,

I dont mind losing some money mind you, just dont want to cut my right hand off LOL.

So the 1979 XS1100 Special project, had some nice side covers, a good seat pan, and a replaced TC fuse box, slightly rusty tank inside, but dent free tank, original taps, fuel sender and fuel cap, Keys all match, fresh battery, electrically works nice, signals flash, brake light works from the foot pedal, turns over from the starter button, and has spark from testing each plug.

Box of parts, standard tree, brake pedals, shifter pedal, front and rear spare fenders, nice rear brake caliper with shiny piston, Original front brakes and a set of front brakes bought off of ebay.

                nice pair of special forks
                New throttle cable
Hard to get Rear Wheel Bearing
                Auto Tensioner
Brand new in box Mikes XS Pods, set of 4.
78 Standard frame with a very much complete harness with title.
79 Special frame very clean with title.
An extra complete swing arm assembly
Original Special front wheel, and another on the bike now.
                Original Special 16" rear wheel
Have a Standard 17" on the bike now, because of a usable tire.
Still have the Special spacer so no worries there, putting the 16" back on.

And still , all or none, as I will not be parting this out.
Will need to be picked up at my home.

So JJZ28, DPotter or WMarshy, fair to offer you all first dibs if still interested beings you all stated your interests.

                THANKS

                    Damn!
I'd have to build me a shed to live in if I got these.
The wife just doesn't understand how much this HOBBY pleases me.

I mean the price is right, you're not too far away, I kinda have the money, but SWMBO would have a cow, and I'd have no room in the carport either.

If you still don't get any takers in about a month or two, maybe I can convince her that this is what I want for christmas.
