  • 81 XS1100 and XJ650 in Columbus, OH for sale

    Greetings,

We actually have 3 bikes for sale. I have an 81 XS1100 Special for sale. It has 18,693 miles on it. It is a very strong running bike. I painted it green a few years ago and it turned out great. I also masked off and painted the tank and side cover emblems and they look awesome. The battery is good and the tires have less than 1000 miles on them. The gas tank has been coated inside to keep the fuel rust free and there are inline fuel filters on the fuel lines. It has a custom aluminum clock in the center of the handle bars that is AWESOME. I installed an aluminum starter button so it will never need replaced again. It also has a brand new solenoid. The bike does have a few issues to mention. The left side cover would not snap on securely because the connector was broken. It fell off one day when I was riding and it was ran over by a minivan. I went back an grabbed it. The emblem is salvageable but will need to be repainted. The side cover is destroyed. I thought I had a stuck float valve because I was getting some gas in the air filter so I took my chances with a craigslist mechanic. He was a disaster. He did not fix the problem and he also somehow managed to either drop my bike or dropped another bike on mine and it put a dent in the gas tank. I think there is also a small exhaust leak. One of the seat bolts broke in half. I would like to get 1300 for the bike. I should mention that it has an engine guard and highway pegs and a repair manual. The highway pegs will be included if you pay the asking price. We also have hardly used men's and women's riding jackets helmets if you are interested.

My girlfriend is also selling her 85 Honda Rebel. It has around 5000 miles on it and has a very nice flat black paint job. It has a good battery and decent tires. It was running a little rough at the end of last season and could probably use a tune up. I would like to get 800 for it.

If you are interested in seeing either bike, send me a message on here to set up an appointment. Appointments only available on the weekends.

My roommate also has a bike for sale. Here is what he has to say about it:
"My bike is a 1980 Yamaha XJ650. It has 9493 miles and is in good condition. It currently needs a battery but other than that is ready to go. I had the tank repainted and I have the Yamaha logos that go on the side of it. Also the inside of the tank had some rust and I have had it coated to protect against that along with inline fuel filters. It has a slow oil leak on the bottom of the engine that is most likely a seal that needs replaced. It never leaks enough oil where I have to put any in the bike between oil changes. I have a repair manual and saddle bags that are included with the bike". If you are interested in taking a look at his bike, then call Lucas @ 740-517-1132.

Not sure if you are blind or can't read but there is a link at the end of the post to an album of pictures.

Well, I do need glasses to read. I was suggesting that pictures be posted "on" the site like most of us do.

Now, as far as your off the wall comments on here, you might want to think twice before duplicating that lack of intelligence.

              XS 1100 special.

Is the bike a XS 1100S or 1100SH with the 4 gallon tank. I am in Minnesota and the frame on my bike was found to ha a crack in the steering column. I would not trust a reweld so I am looking to replace the bike.

If I bought yours I would come down to you and ride it back or have it delivered. It looks like it is in good shape with low miles. Would I be able to pick it up, as is, and ride it to Minneapolis, Mn. On a 1 to 10 scale how good is the bike. I have only enough to buy one bike and yours looks like the best one so far. I am really looking for assurance that I am not buying a fixer upper.

Off the subject is that you said you painted the bike. I tried painting mine last summer but none of the spray can Clear Coats seemed to last if gas was spilt on it. How did you solve this problem?

Please let me know if it is still available.

                Bernie,

That is an SH (Special model) not the H with the larger gas tank.

As for being sure it is not a fixer upper, well, your buying a 30 year old bike. Even if everything is working perfectly when you buy it, chances are something will act up or give you fits as these old bikes just like attention from their owners.

Also, the ad stated " I thought I had a stuck float valve because I was getting some gas in the air filter so I took my chances with a craigslist mechanic. He was a disaster. He did not fix the problem and he also somehow managed to either drop my bike or dropped another bike on mine and it put a dent in the gas tank. I think there is also a small exhaust leak."

So going into it, you know you need to work on the carbs and maybe replace exhaust gaskets.
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt.
