  • 1979 XS11- Renouvated. Fast $2995

I have a beautiful 79 with a 4-1 Kerker, Superbike bars, New tires, Trimmed down seat... and much more. It is tight and ready to go. Nasty divorce forces sale (I cannot believe I would ever has to say that, but it's true). I am willing to bet it is one of the top 5 XS11's in the country. Located in SoCal. Always garaged. My number is 949.350.0777. Motivated but not looking to give her away... I don't even want to sell. Thanks.

Sorry to hear you're forced to sell, and that your first post here is a "For Sale" post. I fully understand how much you value your bike, but be aware that all of those mods you've done do not add to the value for most people - they reduce it. Of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so you might just get lucky. Then again, the more you get for the bike, the more your ex gets, right? Maybe you can sell low to a local member, then buy it back... later.

A nice 're-do', but unfortunately not even close to a $2900 re-do.......possibly if it were kept original, but even that's iffy.

I am willing to take you up on said wager.

Have a gander at some of the sites, USA Members, bikes.

Photos were borrowed from the Bike Photos thread and I was only 1/5th of the way through the pages and believe me there was more than this in that segment of pages.

So Mr. McDonald, I'll wager you the cost you would like to get for your advertised bike: "1979 XS11- Renouvated. Fast $2995" plus shipping said bike to my house.

But really William, I prefer to see your bike sell for the asking price 'cause I'm aware of the legal fees you must be incurring.

So, good luck to you and if I offended any members by showing off their beautiful machines I duly apologize.

          Sincerely, The Schmingler
1980 XS1100G "Dolly G" Full Dresser (with a coat of many colors )
          1979 XS1100SF (stock-euro mods planned)
          1984 XV700L Virago (to be hot-modded)
          1983 XJ750MK Midnight Maxim (semi-restored DD)
          1977 XS650D ( patiently awaiting resto)

Sometimes it takes a whole tank of gas before you can think straight.

William count your self lucky you live in USA as member Mack has
TWO immaculate Specials and is working on a Standard up here in Canada.
I have attended many XS rallies and there are always one or two exceptional examples along with the usual really good ones and a few reasonable examples plus some that need a little work (like mine) sometimes one or two need a lot of work but we are glad to see them anyway.
Good luck with the divorce and think about that idea of selling to a buddy to look after it for you ( been done before)

It is always interesting to see the emotional responses that come form such "challenges" on the site. Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder, and nothing can displace the pride of a project completed to look as beautiful as one planned. So one of the top 5, well that will always depend what other 5 or 10 or 200 your looking at, and who is making the decision.

As to the reason for your sale, well, another event filled with emotions. Never seen a divorce that wasn't nasty by the time it was over. really, for the value that these bikes actually bring, your better off selling it for peanuts to your buddy and getting it back when the dust settles. Not to say yours is not a fine specimen of an XS11, however, the reality is that only the most pristine, showroom condition, mint (as in looks like it just rolled off the factory line, no aftermarket parts) of these bikes will typically fetch the kind of fee your looking for. The good condition well maintained nice running machines will tend to run in the $1500 to $2000 range.

Of course your best bet to fetch the highest price on a bike is always late spring when the weather is perfect for riding and the most folks have "got the bug".
Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

When your work speaks for itself, don't interrupt.
