If you are asking that much at least roll the thing outside and get some decent lighting on the bike.

That is a nice lookin' bike! Except for that fugly seat, that is... It may be an '80 though, with '81 wheels. Both of the master cylinders look to have plastic reservoirs, and the '81 had solid metal ones.

Yep, that's what ALWAYS kills me, when there's bright light maybe 5 feet away and this is the best he can post???
Never ceases to amaze me the way people present a bike FOR SALE...

          The Current Owner

I just talked to the seller and he stated he got the bike from his best friend who is a M/S fanatic and has re-furbished like 4 or 5 of these, so it's entirely possible the wheels were swapped from an 81 plus any other items that don't look kosher on it. He's gonna call me this evening and look at the steering neck to verify the VIN tag if it is indeed a 80 model...BTW, I did ask him to roll out in the light and send me a couple of decent pics as I mentioned to him that only one of those posted was really good to get an idea of what kinda shape it's in...

            Update Info

He called me back and after talking to his buddy that he bought it from, confirmed that it is indeed a 81 model...so...
As far as the seat goes, that would be a real novelty to have that, I almost bought one for my 79 when they were listed in the accessory catalog, but I went with the "LTD" looking seat and a square stock sissy bar with the 3 prongs sticking-up and a button & tuft p-pad for the "B"

I was thinking it looked like 81 model, rings on the covers, swirly wheels, etc. I know that style seat was an option on the 80 Special. the 79 had a taller back on the seat.

The catalog that was available when these bikes were new,
and the stuff from them hasn't been available for these bikes for many, many moons....
