That's a '80 standard, not even a '81. You'll want to check the numbers vs the title on this one....

Yes, I thought it was XS thru 81 and XJ from 82-on.

What difference cued you into it being an 80 vs 81?

I've never seen the passenger floor boards like this one has...kind of neat. Still has the lower fairing too, those usually are trashed.

Not sure what all Steve saw, but the 81H Venturer was the factory touring model. The key piece I noticed is the foot peg brackets are not angled up like a Specials would be, the H had the same exhaust as the SH, and the same foot peg brackets. I believe the H also had slotted rotors.

To my understanding all the 81 models had slotted front rotors from the factory H,SH and LH. It's still not a bad deal even if it is a 1980, provided it is in good running order. If you want'd to you could probably get back a third of the initial cost just by selling the lowers and the luggage rack.

The slots started in 80 on the specials, not sure about standards. Rotors can be changed though.

I do need a set of lowers like that for mine.

It sounds like you need someone to road-trip this bike down to you!

                          It's...

                          ...at most a '79.

It has the kick start shaft and the drivers pegs are '78 -'79.

                          1977 XS650D ( patiently awaiting resto)

The right side cover looks like pre '80, while the left one looks '80+.
The speedo would be a dead give away. '80+ = 85MPH.
But of course we don't get any pics of the speedo huh.
Driver pegs could have been swapped, I don't see the kickstart, but I wouldn' know exactly what I was looking for anyway.
Either way, definitely not worth a full $1000. maybe $7-800

                              Hmmm..

2nd photo down, left side. Looks like it has the oil cooler that was stock on the Venturer. You can see one of the lines. I'm guessing it is an '81...

But if so it should have the slotted rotors. If not an '81 someone has done a good job of mounting the full touring kit.
