Nice AD Presentation
That's a pretty nice bike and the way it's presented, it should
generate some interest. You can tell the seller put some time
and effort into the ad and the pics (good lighting and free-hand...no tri-pod).
I really hate it when you see an ad with like 4 pics and a 2 line description
and the bike has dust all over it, the engine is oily, and it doesn't look like
it's been polished in a few years.
IF I were in the market, I'd definetely be in contact with the
seller and try to work a deal on that bike. NICE JOB with the ADLast edited by tv5150; 03-30-2012, 11:23 PM.Current Rides:

Nice bike, but IMO the price is a bit stiff for a non-original semi-stock rebuild. Wrong paint, seat cover, and Jardine slip-ons are the three big things. I could see a final sale price of $3500 possibly, but for an opening bid the seller is overreaching...Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

rarity
what a rare beauty and that paint with the gold emblems is sweet. i had a 78 that color. id offer somewhere maybe around $2500, cause of the mileage, if it looks that good in person. hes stretching it IMO. my 81 just turned 14K, so that mileage is high for me, and i paid $1000 for it when it had 8800 miles on it and still looked new. maybe i was just lucky? sure is an extremely clean bike though. its great to see the xs11's first yr in that great of shape, and they are much faster than the 80's version.
its a blast from the past for sure!Last edited by mjpxs11sh; 03-31-2012, 01:38 AM.Max

Steve, this is like the discussion the other day about the side covers where they were priced low with no reserve and selling for nearly nothing.
By putting this opening bid on it he's not over reaching, he's telling you "This is what I think my bike is worth and if you are intersted, here you are". Those auctions starting at 99 cents with a high reserves drive me nuts. Tell me what you are willing to accept by using that as your starting bid and if I'm interested I'll bid. I much prefer this type of auction.
BTY, nice bike, if I had close to $3,500 I'd give it some consideration."If A equals success, then the formula is: A = X + Y + Z. X is work. Y is play. Z is keep your mouth shut." - Albert Einstein

If it were an original bike in this condition, then the opening price would be a bit low. This looks more like a fishing expedition to me, hoping to find a unaware buyer who's not famililar with prices on these.
I will agree that sellers that put up a low-ball opening bid with a reserve are being a bit disingenuous; if you have a minimum that you'll accept, start the bid there. But this looks more like a case of a 'let's see if I can get my price' rather than a genuine effort to sell the bike... He still doesn't have any bids...Fast, Cheap, Reliable... Pick any two

Agree with Steve, a fishing expedition, and not an original surviver. These kinda sells(if they sell for the asking) just keep the value going up on my original Venturer1100.81H Venturer1100 "The Bentley" (on steroids) 97 Yamaha YZ250(age reducer) 92 Honda ST1100 "Twisty"(touring rocket) Age is relative to the number of seconds counted 'airing' out an 85ft. table-top.
