I believe it's the Yamaha fairing built by Yamaha for the XJ11
and just before they came-out with the XVZ1200 Venture in 83
I remember seeing them back in the day and the owner of the Yamaha dealer in San Angelo had one on his new 82 XJ11
and they were in the Yamaha accessory catalog back then.

        yep

Yes, its the factory x1 fairing. I have the same bike with that fairing and think its the best one out for these bikes, sleek, light, modernistic and factory. I would love to find the x1 factory bags for the xj, they are extremely rare and I have yet to actually see a pair in person,,,,,,,,,,,so yes its the factory fairing, for the 82 xj1100, it could also be for the later year Canadian same model, anyone up North know for sure?? Reminds me of a Seca fairing. I kinda like it.

I actually have a junk bike that i took those x-1 hard trunk and bags off of and put in my garage. They came factory on an 82 virago 920 touring package. It might be an 81 but i think its an 82, cant remember. They are faded but the locks work. i think the trunk had a crack somewhere, cant remember, if interested, i could get you some pics.

May be kinda late Mike, but the XV(following yr. Venture) looks to have the same shape side hard cases as the Xj's 'tour-pac' did. Mounting hardware may be an issue tho..........
