I bought a nearly flawless 81 Special two years ago from someone that spent a huge amount of time and $$ on--a lot more than I paid for it, I'm sure. It has about 23,000 miles, and the former owner had meticulously gone through this bike, including tranny/drivetrain/bearing work and cosmetically the bike is superb. Original as far as I can tell except for a brand new 4-1 exhaust. I have the original exhaust plus an enormous box full of mechanical parts including most of a transmission and many, many useful mechanical items, some new.
Runs great, looks great, about the only problem I can ID is that the front fork probably should be gone through, I'm not all that thrilled with it's performance, although it holds its air and doesn't leak.
So I'm into this bike over $3K, I have too many toys, and I just don't use it enough to justify keeping it IF I can recover something at least close to what I paid for it. Please, no lowballing as I don't absolutely need to sell this.
