  • For Sale 1980 XS1100 LG Midnight Special

Good day all! Looking for a quick sale. Bike is located near Pasadena, CA. I found this Midnight Special on ebay about 6 years ago sitting in a field. I towed it home and got to work (most parts came from BikeBandit or Yamaha, and for what it's worth I'm an OCD spacecraft mechanical engineer who does things right): rebuilt carbs, deleted the stock airbox and added individual K&N filters (I have all original parts), added a conventional gravity feed fuel petcock, rebuilt all three brake calipers, rebuilt both brake master cylinders, dual ACCEL coils with 8.8mm wires, NGK Iridium plugs, fresh fluids all around, new Progressive series 12 rear springs/dampers (setup for 170lbs rider), 4-2 header with crossover (this was one of those hard-to-find header setups, muffler currently not installed, but I have it), brand new clutch, new battery, new tires. I rode this bike for about 5 years (performing those mods along the way, currently has 59k miles on the odo) and it was awesome. Very quick, transmission shifted fine unlike a few other XS's I've ridden, burned some oil but not awful. Then one of my friends crashed on his bike and properly scared me, so I haven't been riding for the past 1.5yrs, and I don't see myself getting back on this horse anytime soon. Bike has been sitting, it's got some leaves and spider webs on it, battery needs to be charged, carbs need to be cleaned out again no doubt, currently not running, but it will run just fine again with a little work. I really just want it out of here, but I'll go through the carbs and get it running if that's what it takes (although I'll be firmer on the price if I have to put effort in). Not looking for tire kickers, would like someone to show up with a pickup truck and ramps and take her away. Things that are wrong with it: needs a bath, paint is fading on the top of the tank, seat could use a re-cover, grips need to be re-glued, and one of the front calipers is sticking (fresh fluid and give it some exercise and I'm sure it will free right up). Comes with all the original parts (like the airbox, centerstand, etc) that I may have removed. Also comes with all parts necessary to rebuild the front forks (never got to that), service manual, etc. Asking $1000 OBO. Call/txt/email with questions. Thanks for looking!
