I talked with this guy and I think he's out of touch with the value of this bike. He told me he bought it from the origional owner, the bike has about 25,000 miles. It looks like it cleaned up very well! I asked about the usual things and it sounds like its all original, except exhaust (it has spaghetti pipipes) and in good working order. He said his price was based on other XS11's that were sold on ebay lol. I told him, I personally didn't think it was worth more than half his asking price but that's JMO. The reason I say that is b/c I know the bike was advertised for $3000 from the person he bought it from last year! What do you think about it?

I think I would love to see him get it, would only raise the value on ours.
But reality is, you would need to find someone who is in absolute love with THAT setup on THAT year and color. Not a big market even on a global basis.
Even the absolute mint MNS models, the one had under 8k miles IIRC, we have seen lately do not go for that price, and they are the rarest and most sought after model it seems, (although I have never liked the wheel color).
So, I doubt he gets what he is asking for it, half might even be wishful thinking.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

I had one pretty close to that, just as shiny, with leather bags. I only got $2300 at auction for it, if I recall correctly. It may have been less. And that was before the $ crunch.

Thats a beauty! I love your seat, I want one like that but on my '79. I'll probably ride up and take a look at it just to kick tires and look at it. Maybe I could convince him to trade 1 for 1 with me.

My 79 Standard was in as good or better shape with just over 3 k original on the clock. I recently sold it and did not come close to 5K.. Of couse I did not ask for >5k because I figured it was about worth what I sold it for. I suppose if someone wanted one bad enough??????????????? Who knows!!78 XS1100E Standard
