There was that formerly museum-kept, nearly flawless example that went to Norway a little while ago; that one went for a bit under $4500. Pic here: http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread...=norway&page=2. This one had documented ultra-low miles and was all but new.

Realistically? Blue book is only about $1400 (granted, that's probably low), so if you could get $3K, you shouldn't complain.

Limited-edition performance models will bring a good premium over time, but 'cosmetic' models very rarely bring more than a few hundred more than their plain cousins, all else being equal...

        Making an offer . . .

        Hey Nick,

I'll make you an offer of $3K. That's over my budget as I'm paying for tuition for 2 kids, but that's a sweet ride . . .

However this sale shakes out, I would be very interested in the fairing set-up to fit my 81 LH if anyone wants to seperate it.... and I could also pick it up.

Interesting, when I looked mine up, the range was 1500 - 1800. Of course that was for my zip code, and I'm sure it varies by the area of the country your in (and likely even more so on the country).

Well after looking online and receiving several offers I decided to let the bike go for 3500. Seems more reasonable and I don't want to be greedy. I am in no need for cash or have to sell it so I will stick with this price. Thanks everyone.

That is still $1000.00 over what nada says one in concours shape is worth. I have a 1980 LG, and i wouldn't let it go for less that $2000.00, and it is in pretty good shape. has 22000 mile now. KBB says it is worth $1375.00. It still boils down to what someone will pay for it, but at that price you may have to hold it for awhile. Keep it running good, and maybe the value won't go down.

Ive looked up BB and NADA but I think with all the accessories and almost 1000 dollars in new parts in the last 2 months its not too outrageous.

                          Hi bg,
compare the 1980 average wage and today's, eh?
The constant dollar asking price is about 1/3rd of new.
If you look at the new price of a 1935 Norton or a 1953 Vincent and compare with what they sell for today you'll realize that the MNS is a total bargain.

                              Hi Nate,
accepting that the MNS is merely a cosmetic variant on a Special, I have ridden all three.
All the Norton has going for it is nostalgia. The Vincent has suspension at least but the V-twin version is way overpowered for it's frame. Well, so's the XS11 so we are tied there. FWIW, I reckon the Yamaha is better engineered than either.
