Very nice bike!! You definitely don't have to tell the folks here about the history of the XS11, or how rare such a well-kept version of one is. You didn't say how much you're asking for it, or why you're selling though.
    1980 XS850SG - Sold
    1981 XS1100LH Midnight Special (Sold) - purchased 9/29/08
Fully Vetterized and Dynojet Kit added, Heated Grips, Truck-Lite LED headlight, Accel Coils, Irridium plugs, TKAT Fork Brace, XS850LH Final Drive & Black SS Brake lines from Chacal.
Here's my web page devoted to my bike! XS/XJ User's Manuals there, and the XJ1100 Service Manual and both XS1100 Service manuals (free download!).

wow someone else from utah here, nice. ya i was hoping for 2600 but am taking best offor.. i am selling because i like dirt bikes. i build hillclimbers and this is a shaft drive or the motor would have gotten planted into a cr500 frame. i know the thought of that makes you guys cringe lol

Do you know the ownership history? Are you the original owner, or do you know the whole story?

Very nice looking Special. If that is indeed the actual miles, you should get your asking price... if she runs out as good as she looks.

Man... there have been so many excellent 11's for sell lately... and my finances are still stuck in Pergatory.... got a HUGE urge to increase the stable... just can't right now. Just glad I've got the XJ!

Best of luck on the sale to you.

'79 F "Time Machine"... oh yeah, Baby.... (Sold back to Maximan)

yes i know its history, i am the second owner, the original owner bought it off the showroom floor in 82 so he got a good deal on it, he loves fast bikes he is 72 now and just bought a hayabusa! im not kidding!
he bought kawi a couple years ago the big shaft drive 1400 i dont remember what it was zzx or something. but the old dude still rides! cool as hell.
anyhoo he was selling me a cr500 and i saw that in the corner and he gave me a good deal i couldnt pass up. i only put 150 miles on it, first thing i did when taking it home was light up the rear tire around a corner, it was all i could do not to dump it! scared the hell outta me and gave me respect for the power these bikes have.
If it ain't broke,,,,,I'll fix it anyways!

You're nuts if you sell it for $2600. I had a 79 special that was that clean with 10,000 miles and got $3,5000.
That's a very nice bike. Put it on ebay.

                    Hillclimber

I saw your note saying that you build Hillclimbers. I may have something you might be interested in. A few years ago, I bought a 79 XS Special on e-bay that has been turned into a Hillclimber. The guy I bought it from in California said he used it in Hillclimbs around California and metioned it was once in the "Widomaker Hill Climb". I don't see any damage on the bike so it must have come through ok. This thing is really cool. The bike has been completely redone. A new swingarm was fabricated and extended at least 2 feet (Maybe more). The Driveshaft was converted to Chain and runs through a jackshaft on the swingarm. The paddle on the back is at least 12 inches wide and probably 14 inches. The motor now has a magneto so it needs no battery to run. He fabricated a custom manifold and now the bike has twolds two big weber Carbs. The front end, gas tank, seat and bars are from an old Yamaha Dirt Bike. I'm sure there is more, but that is all I can think of right now. If you may be interested in a trade of some kind for the bike you have for sale, PM me with your e-mail address and I'll send you some pics. Tom

The '78-'79 models came wth an emergency kick-start lever, bolted to the underside of the battery box. The lever in that picture is not the stock one. However, if you battery is dead, no amount of kicking would have started the bike. The TCI needs a good battery to fire. The kick-start is only for when the starter goes out (which it seldom does), which is why they stopped installing that option.
