  • 80 special on CL in CA

Looks like it could be a good deal, nice looking bike and a reasonable price. Only thing that catches on my radar is why the motor was rebuilt at 7k miles?

Stay back, I wanted to go look at this one as my first XS!!!

But seriously, any input would be appreciated. Not a good idea for a first XS?

hey Power, take a look around or do a search here, there is a thread somewhere that has a list of "things to look for" on a used xs. I just re-read the add and from my perspective I wouldn't trust the guy that it just needs gas, oil, and a battery. Tell him you want to hear it run, and tell him you'll pay a little extra for the oil and battery if he gets it and the bike does run like he says. Otherwise you could try to bargin down, because essentially as it sits its a non-running bike. If he refuses to get the stuff to fire it up, I personally wouldn't pay more then 350 for it, yeah its in good shape but you can get these things all the time for under a grand in good shape and RUNNING.

Thanks for the input. I just recently signed up so I'm still doing searches and scouring the archives of this board!

Just an update, this thing sold several days ago, before I even had the time to go take a peek.
