Yeah - it's true. I need to part with my baby to get another car as I now have a teen driver in the house and a car shortage. This bike is spoiled rotten. You won't find a nicer one. Sigh...
Tim Ripley - Gaithersburg, MD 1981 XS1100 Special "Spoiled Rotten" Just sold - currently bikeless!!

drilled stock airbox with K&N
Jardine 4 to 1 Exhaust
spade fusebox
1st and 2nd gear fix
Tim ..sorry to see you having to do this ...for an old VW bug??? Hardly seems like a worthy replacement for such a fine example of an XS1100...ah but I know all about parting with beautiful bikes for other priorities...gotten rid of 2 bikes this year so I understand the feeling all too well. Good luck with it...
Wow, sorry to see you selling the bike. Only hope whoever buys your bike will care for it as you did.
It is a beauty, that's for sure... There will be some separation anxiety too.
Thanks for the kind words, guys. Maybe I'll be back. I gotta get these kids through college and launched. If it doesn't sell, I'll keep it and buy the bug anyway. Don't tell my wife.

Great looking bike. Sorry you're selling it. Bummer. I just sold my 65 Cutlass to pay property tax and ins. I know how you feel.
If you were selling it last summer (when I actually did have some money) I think we could have worked out a deal. I am in MD too. I couldn't find anything in that kind of shape last year that was anywhere near MD.

Hopefully things will work out you can keep the bike. Hopefully, also, even if you sell it you will continue to provide help and incite to this site. You sure have helped me over a few big humps!

Now - on to looking for the perfect classic VW Beetle...

Tim dont be a stranger...bikes come and go but friends are forever...especially XSive friends
Nows a good time to find one of those $200-$300 fixeruppers and slowly bring it back to life.
It would take a lot to bring an old beater to where your special is though.
