    1982 Yamaha XJ1100 Maxim $1200

I’ve had this bike about 4 years and have decided to sell it to help pay for a newer bike.
The bike has about 41,000 miles and has a Pacifico fairing, crash bars and a sissy bar. It runs very strong and has a great ride, I believe I’m the second owner.
The original owner always ran Amsoil synthetic lube in the bike and so have I. The bike has really needed nothing since I’ve had it. The tires are in very good shape.

Now the bad: Let’s keep in mind this is a 27 year old motorcycle, it’s been ridden and is not a trailer queen nor a show bike, what it is is a good daily rider that you don’t stress out about riding down a gravel road. The bike has been maintained in a state of “arrested decay” it has some scrapes/dings but runs and operates just fine with a couple of exceptions I’ll get to in a minute.
There is a crack in the windshield that has been patched to prevent it from getting any bigger, the bike sometimes leaks a little oil after a long ride, not a huge puddle but rather a handful of drips, sometimes it drips other times it doesn’t.
The seat has a couple of rips at the seams.
Sometimes the starter disengages early when the engine fires.
This bike has “the second gear slip” only mine does this in first gear not second, what this means is when you are in first gear and apply a load (let out the clutch) occasionally the bike may “slip the gear” a little, I usually start off easy in first then shift to second and apply the real power. There is a fix that can be done to the bike to cure this issue but I’ve chosen to just live with it.

I have more pics and would be happy to email them or take pics of any specific part of the bike.

    Sorry no trades

The bike is in Northeast Iowa (Waterloo)

Here's a shot of a dirty bike showing the oil on the rear tire, about 150 miles worth, I live on a gravel road.
