78E 240 KPH speedo

Hi all

I'm looking for a replacement speedometer for my Canadian 78e. The speedometer cable broke and the replacement cable fixed the speedo, but not the odometer. I played around with it without taking it apart, to no avail. I prefer the 240 Kph version so the odometer is in KPH.

If you have one you can part with, please let me know, thanks (picture in the winter home - for fun)

Really? It the gas gauge for me...230km and I'm hunting for more gas.

Thanks, I saw that one. Looks to be in pretty rough shape, and yes, kph but not with mph in the centre, which I might settle for a good condition one.

To me it looks like it's in typical "good working pull" condition. Can certainly understand why you'd want the MPH in the center especially for when you visit Ameristan.

Andreas was my first stop, has helped me out in the past - awesome support for XS owners. No luck though. He gave me another name in the US, no luck again. I decided I wanted to see if I can get one that has km for the odometer. The European ones might have to do, but that one posted earlier by DEEBS11 looks very corroded on the backside. My speedo works fine, its the odometer I want, so no sense buying something that looks iffy.

Not seeing any rebuild tutorials, I have heard its tough and I would likely need the odometer gears. If only I had read about greasing them sooner!

I'll keep looking. Was hoping a member (Canadian?) had an extra one in their parts bin.

Thanks DEEBS - I called Bob's - they don't work on Japanese bikes, only British. They provided me with the number for Powl's in PA (717-898-2552) for anyone else looking.
